I'm pretty sure that's the dumb name for it.
DK=Red
Mage=Blue
Priest=White
Liberty like the US flag... red, white, blue... yeah... we prefer frostcleave/christmascleave.

"......I forgot my pants again, didn't I?"
"Yep"
cleave was used to describe melee comps with insane burst... then when caster teams started nuking people down in like no time, they started calling them wizard cleaves... i.e. lock/el shaman/h pala - most common spell cleave in wrath initially. ATC was a counter to spell cleaves in the later two seasons i believe.
Nah, not really. Cleaves were teams that could hit more than one target with damage at once and do fast swaps to keep damage on multiple targets, like the ability "Cleave". TSG was a prime example of this. Diseases spreading, bleeds ticking, bladestorming, then fast swaps to healers. Damage going out on multiple targets. Comps like shadowcleave as well. The name "cleave" sounded catchy to some people so comps like Beastcleave were made. It started becoming a trend that every comp name would have cleave in it. Wizard cleaves are now caster comps and most of the time don't even cleave.
Also, Ele/lock/druid or hpally wasn't nearly as common as MLS or shatterplay in wrath until season 7/8 when haste dominated and the burst was nuts.

Angle Cleave! Ret, Shadow Priest X Rsham or Rdruid. :3
I'm pretty sure Thugcleave is Hunter/rogue/priest . It's named that way because they shoot and stab people if I remember correctly♠
Thundercock Cleave. Elesham/Boomkin/Hpal. At least that's what I name it.

I believe Lopez called it the "Arthas Cleave" but in our hearts, that comp will forever be known as "Wintraded to steal r1 from Hydra and blizzard in it's infinite wisdom didn't see anything wrong with 2800, 2600, and 2200 players suddenly skyrocketing to an almost 3.2k rating with a 50% win loss so didn't ban them cleave". I know it's a little long but meh.
More on topic, I'm sure a few people have heard of "mongolian earthworm cleave". Enhance, Boom, Disc. I have no idea where this name came from but it's been around since the start of season 9, and at some point we really should look at these names and go ".....really?"
Man Cleave! Warrior/war/Hpally my favorite to see the enemy team just freak out when they see 2 warriors >:E
Then there's Blender Cleave 3 warriors! Also a favorite!
