I have been playing around with sim reforging since I put on my 4P T12, and have been astonished that not only is haste overtaken by mastery and crit at the soft cap, the more haste is reforged to mastery (and a little crit since that's what my original sims wanted), the more dps from haste is diminished (0.7666 per point at 1k), the more dps I've gained, and the more dps from mastery, crit and int.

I have been wondering, is Simcraft leading us on with some kind of scaling glitch? Or is there some kind of math that proves that the mana saved in AP scales better with high mastery than soft-capped haste, and even less with lower haste?

Mastery scaling does seem logical, you're spending 601 less mana per ABx4 and therefore that part of your burn phase, and you have increased mana remaining after AP has worn off.

Another thought, would haste theoretically have a soft cap where it could overtake mastery (assuming Simcraft is leading us right about this) if the GCD was removed?

To give an Idea with what I'm finding;

All tests at 25k iterations. Crit kept at 20.05% self buffed, where Simcraft desires it. Hitcap met on all tests, reforges going into or from mastery.

With 1669 haste;

DPS: 28780.2

Int: 4.7854
SP: 2.3865
Hit: 2.9492
Crit: 1.2502
Haste: 1.0692
Mastery: 1.2278

With 1331 haste;

DPS: Forgot to record it, but was in the 28800-28900 range

Int: 4.7771
SP: 2.3856
Hit: 2.9449
Crit: 1.2434
Haste: 0.9280
Mastery: 1.2384

With 972 haste;

DPS: 29055

Int: 4.8702
SP: 2.4079
Hit: 2.9679
Crit: 1.2698
Haste: 0.6740
Mastery: 1.2923

So, going 1669 > 1331 > 972 haste we get
Int: 4.7854 > 4.7771 > 4.8702 (0.0848 increase)
SP: 2.3865 > 2.3856 > 2.4079 (0.0214 increase)
Mastery: 1.2278 > 1.2434 > 1.2923 (0.0645 increase)
Haste: 1.0692 > 0.9280 > 0.6740 (0.3952 decrease)

DPS increase trading 697 haste rating for 697 mastery rating: 265.8
