Windows 8 available for download in 8 ish hours!

    http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/13/w...e-to-download/

Got a brain full of Windows 8? Can't stop obsessing about it? Fret not -- as of 8PM PT this evening (just under eight hours from now), you'll be able to download a copy of the Windows Developer Preview to your 32- or 64-bit x86 machine (no activation required) from dev.windows.com. Sorry, ARM hopefuls! Per usual, we'd recommend doing so on a separate partition (or a spare machine altogether) in order to prevent unforeseen conflicts, and we'd also suggest having a stiff glass of patience waiting nearby. Something tells us Redmond's servers are going to be hammered.
    Going to be downloading that

I feel more comfy with the Windows 7 UI and taskbar, Windows 8 looks way too basic for my likings.

Time to boot up my old laptop and install this. Hopefully it isn't as terrible as it looked when I originally looked at Win8. Hopefully the interface is customizable like crazy because it looks just plain terrible for PC but looks like it would be incredible on a tablet.

Same, I hope my work place and the university I lecture at don't change their operating system.

I'm tempted to try this, but I'm at work and I could possibly screw it up and well... bad things will happen; Guess I'll grab this when I get home to see what it looks.

    Thanks OP!

Because they use Akamai, no mass downloads from Redmond
Never going to log into this garbage forum again as long as calling obvious troll obvious troll is the easiest way to get banned.

From a usability perspective, I'm curious as to how well (reliably) the settings sync works. I've already used MS's 'Mesh' service extensively to keep my desktop and laptop's documents synchronized. (And it already handles IE & Office settings as well)

Then onto playing a bit with VS2011...

The only thing I dread currently is the complete removal of the Start Menu. Thats going to take some getting used to.
