What is the best spec for 5 man heroics? as a lock

trying to help out a friend thats a new lock, they are trying afflic right now and the damage is not there. I am not a lock nor do i have one. Please help which spec is best for 5 man heroics


Just need to know which spec i can find the rest of info out. TY in advance

I would say demo for aoe. Also it's quite relaxing & enjoyable to run around with hellfire.

If the person playing really knows what they are doing, then affliction is the best spec for heroics. At least IMO.

Demo for sure just pull 3 mobs at a time if you have a good tank and heals then go nuts on aoe that dungeons will be going by quick.

I'd stick with Affli OP it IS the best spec overall, trouble is that the shorter the fight, the less damage Affli will do, especially on trash.

Affliction due to a lack of burst and the comparatively longer ramp-up suffers badly on most trash due to the short lifespan of it.
Sure on bosses which live long enough it can shine, but where dps on trash matters then demo or destro will be superior.

Good tank + heals in a random 5 man is far frmo a guarantee

I guess that if your friend is decent enough you might be able to use the added damage from Metamorphosis on bosses to pump up his damage, but my guess is that if he doesn't have the damage in Affli he'll also have a hard time getting the max out of Demo

My experience is the opposite. I rarely see any sort of CC these days. People have begun to outgear the content enough that tanks often just grab the whole pack and the healer can keep him up through it.

What i noticed from gearing up my Warlock its easier to pad your dps by going demo and aoe'ing, we all know people are jerks to new players so it will help keep them quiet. Personally i think its the most fun to do dungeons as well i mean who doesn't love high aoe numbers!?!?!

Demo, better than aff on trash and depending on gear will out burst aff on bosses.

Fights are just short enough where your big cooldown is up a majority of the time. Throw in a doomguard and no one can beat you.

Demo is the best way to go as long as you macro in usage of various abilities to use at select times ie felstorm, hand of gul'dan, and rain of fire for ranged aoe and helfire plus metamorphosis for melee range or on the move fights. If things get too dicey use the infernal combined with aoe to unleash some serious damage. If you are in a single target fight than consider making affliction your secondary spec to switch to but otherwise use the aoe as much as possible in group fights. You are sure to do huge damage.

I absolutely hate doing heroics on my lock, takes way too long to kill mobs and i feel like im being carried by melee who are doing lots of burst. But i'd go with demo for the trash aoe and good single target boss damage. It will make the heroics go a little faster

In heroics I usually go Demo for trash and switch to Affliction depending on the boss.

However, afflic can usually hold its own on trash if you don't like Demo.

Another vote for demo here. Fights just don't last long enough for affliction to shine. Honestly, that is an issue with all locks in 5 mans, but affliction really shows it.

Demo is a bloody pain to play, tho. I love it, but I can see where it would be tedious for some. Still, its hard to beat the coolness of turning into a demon, bursting into flames, and throwing yourself at your enemies.

Heroics as affil blow, I just dot the trash and throw off bolts when I can but don't just dot 1 target and bolt him, dot up every mob and keep them ticking but overall I'd say demo is the best, better aoe and the felguard with his ww etc.

For big trash pulls just pop Soulburn: SoC, Demon Soul, and keep using Shadowfury.

When there's only a couple mobs I Soul Swap Corr, UA, and BoA between two and Corr/UA the rest.

This, and tab SoC between cooldowns. Affliction AE isn't bad, its about average. It just looks bad when you compare it to demo.

Desto AE really is bad.
