Hey all this is my first post here and I hope that this is ok. I am raidleading a guild of irl friends and our warrior (Bennybrunst) is feeling alittle bit down at the moment because of his dps. I have never played a warrior so I really cant go into the logs and nitpick about his rotation and stuff. He does not have 4 set and that is one thing I say to him, that his dps will get better with 4 set. Is there anyone here that can check our logs and look at our dps warrior? Would gladly appreciate it. If this request is not ok in this forum I will remove it at once! No dots in the link!

Hi blulingo. Log analysis is exactly what this thread is for.

For not having the 4-set his dps actually seems good. I'm only seeing a few points he could improve. These are:
On Velhari - Saving the 2nd Avatar for Heroism
On Iskar - Saving the first Recklessness for the first add phase
On Xhul - Taking Anger Management instead of Ravager to have Bladestorm ready for more Imp waves.
On Zakuun - Not dieing (not soaking multiple waves)

On 3+ target fights - take the glyph raging blows and use raging blows before every whirlwind

Another thing that would boost his dps is
    a. the class trinket on boss fights where he doesn't have to switch targets often. (Velhari, Mannoroth, Zakuun etc.)
    b. the legendary ring

For future logs please enable advanced combat logging. That way you can see things like rage.

Hey guys, just right off the bat I want to say I haven't been a dps for a very long time, as I've been devoting all my focus into being a tank.

With this being said, I have returned back to dpsing recently and started doing so in HFC HC, even though I have went for most optimizations and a decent build/rotation I still find that I'm lacking a lot of dps & I'm finding it hard to pinpoint all the areas that can be improved upon.

    My Armory:

    http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/characte...riana/advanced

WoWLogs for the recent bunch of fights:

Thanks for helping me in advance!

Usually tank and arms for PvP but been getting in as DPS for some Mythic runs.

Can't really blame gear since I have the set bonuses, valor and trinkets so I'm not sure what else there is. Arms on WC log stats shows it does decently and on par if not better than fury for most encounters but I'm not getting up there.

    Warrior is Sykorax:
    Council - https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...pe=damage-done
Should be one of the best arms fights but I think it should be higher as the next two logs are just a little lower with less cleave

    Iskar - https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...pe=damage-done
Adds stayed up decently to cleave and tried to SS execute off adds as much as I could but overall still seems low
They pulled the resonance away from the main pack each time so zero cleave was doable (probably to force their guildies to ST the resonance) and ring damage was pretty crap from it

    Socrethar - https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...pe=damage-done
Same w Iskar, tried to get more cleave damage w adds, didnt swap onto them as much being on the interrupt rotation so mostly focused on soc with incidental cleave onto the caster adds which died really fast. Parsing grey though :/

What do I need to do to salvage arms to be playable, at least parsing 50%+, which is asking for a 10-20k DPS increase with what I have. Be willing to drop MS prot for fury when I head into M later on, but only if there's no hope for me as arms! Really don't want to be swapping with tri spec and redo my binds every week

    Hello

I've always been a healer type of guy, but this time I was needed as dps and I think I should do overall better dps compared to my gear, just tell me what am I doing wrong and I'll be happy.

I am looking for some help regarding my warriors DPS in heroic HFC. It is absolutely horrendous and i cannot figure out why. My characters name is Oscardd (Horde) in the guild Shattered Legion (US) on the realm Bleeding Hollow. Every night I look at the DPS logs for each boss and Im at the bottom of the pack and well below where i should be . I follow the rotation that comes from icy veins but still cannot manage to put forth significant DPS. Bear in mind that I recently joined a guild that had HFC on farm and have been pretty much getting carried through. Some of the DPS loss comes from not fully knowing the ins and outs of each fight, but im significantly lower than i should be. I appreciate any help people from this forum can provide. I am unable to post any links because this is my first account on this forum.

Hi, trying to get some dps help for my warrior friend. I believe he posted above but didn't have any way of posting armory or logs.

    Armory : http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...Oscardd/simple

    Logs: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...pe=damage-done

Granted, his trinkets are bad and he doesn't have 4 pc or ring , but he's way at the low end of his ilvl bracket. He has read the icy veins rotations but seems to be doing poorly. Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hi Oscardd,

first things first: I main prot warrior, so fury/arms is only my second specc. There are much better offensive warriors on this forum.
That said, here are some tipps that will propably improve your dps by quite a bit:

I've seen that you play Fury. Fury's strong point is mainly its AoE burst, so you should use that to your advantage. Bladestorm is a great talent for any fight with a lot of clumped up adds, which are: Hellfire Assault, Kormrok, Iskar, Xhul and Mannoroth.
On Hellfire Assault use Bladestorm when there are a lot of adds.
On Kormrok use Bladestorm for Grasping Hands.
On Iskar use Bladestorm in every Flight phase on the adds.
On Xhul use Bladestorm for every third imp wave. Also skill Shockwave here and use it on every imp wave. When Bladestorm is reade, use Shockwave before using Bladestorm.
On Mannoroth use Bladestorm everytime it's ready and there are imps.

For non-AoE bosses use Bloodbath like you did. (Keep a big stack of Tomes in your inventory to be ready to change talents)

On the level 45 talent row: Shockwave for any fight where you have to stun adds (Xhul). Dragon Roar on other fights. (It lines up well with the legendary ring once you get it)

On the level 100 talent row: Siegebreaker is ok for now, but once you've got the legendary ring you should use Ravager because it lines up well with Bloodbath+Ring.

    Now to the actual fighting!
Very important for every dps class is using their cooldowns to the fullest. Which means lining them up and using them as much as possible.
I like how you line everything up with Bloodlust. That's good.
Other than that you use your cooldowns very rarely. Bloodbath has a 1 minute cd -> use it every minute. Recklessness has a 3 minute cd -> use it at least twice in those fights. (This gets messier once you get the 4p bonus)
Especially on the pull you should use everything and go ham. You don't, so that's a very big dps loss.

    Next thing is strenght pots:
I've seen you use pre-pots. Thumbs up!
The reason you use them shortly before you pull is because then you can use them once more in that fight. Do that! For when you use it:
Preferably during Bloodlust with all your cooldowns running. If you've had Bloodlust on pull, line the pot up with Bloodbath/Bladestorm and Recklessness.
Your aim should be using 2 strenght pots every fight. (Kill)

Another thing you want to maximise is Enrage uptime. You can influence it by using Berserker Rage. Use it every time you're not enraged and Berserker Rage is off cd.

Yet another thing is rage capping. You do that on Velhari which is a dps loss.

These things didn't touch the rotation at all but are VERY important for the damage output. The most important would be using Bladestorm on said fights.

Since you seem to be new to raiding it might help configuring your interface a bit.
Things you want to track are:
    - Cooldowns usable
    - Enrage down + Berserker Rage usable
    - Rage

    Hope it helps

Hey guys, so basically as we are moving through mythic I see my dps slowly falling behind everyone by a small bit depending on the fight, we are on xhul now and the gap is getting even larger. Looking for advice on gear,talents..etc. of what I could do to work on this please.

    Hi All,

Trying to main swap back to my love, the warrior. I historically was a tank in MoP but now am full time dps.
I can do OK at fury as long as I don't miss a bladestorm window, but I'm having issues as arms. It's never been my thing. I have 4P, heroic Arch, and only just got UH (of any level).
    My toon: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte.../Retsef/simple
Here is my current logs from last night, looking primarily at Socrethar.

    https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/pFTkQMZNqRvJHaL7

We have another warrior in the raid that's helping me with selections of talents etc for each fight - primarily just using his experience.

    Me:
    https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...done&source=11
    Him:
    https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...-done&source=2

I look at my damage breakdowns and apart from sweeping strikes uptime and him getting more interrupts I can't see what I'm really missing.
After going through it last night, it simply looks like he just hits harder than me.
On the weapon front, we both have the HFC weapon Fel Burning Blade, his is WF, mine's not. I have some valor upgrades to do.
We have the same trinkets, and he has ~6 ilvls on me.

When I do SimC on single target I get 88k. He gets 100+k. So I know theres a big jump there, but I can't see why it should be so big.
My numbers seem to match up with the simc "good" as opposed to the "expert" rotations - which probably isn't surprising I guess.
On this fight I took the role of interrupt caller and also backup "oh bugger" interrupter, so I didn't have the interrupt glyph firing as often as he did. But still.

I'm missing something, and I just can't place it. Once I get it I'll be fine (I am usually quite capable at this dps malarkey, no top 1%). At the moment I'm getting bottom single-digit percentile ranks, and if I don't improve it I will have to [officer hat on] bench myself back to my mage - which I do not want.

    Retsef,

Your Thorasus damage is very low, meaning you didn't line up CDs for ring. Your sweeping strikes damage is also very low. Fix those two and you should see a nice jump in dps. Other stuff looks pretty good.

I prefer to run avatar plus anger management. Maybe you can try that. I find bloodbath + ravager to be more tedious. Two crits inside an avatar window will make up for any ravager damage done. Everything about Arms is random, might as well join the church of RNGesus and pray for huge crits.

    Hello all!
I seem to be having some serious issues with my warrior and I can't seem to pin point them.

I just switched to my warrior about 3 weeks ago. I normally play a shadow priest but I felt the need to melee for the rest of the expansion! If anyone could give me some feed back as to what I'm doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if it's a rotational issue or if my gear is just that terrible (yes, I know my gear is terrible comparatively, I'm trying).
    Thanks in advance!!!

You are doing alright in terms of core rotation. You are just missing your two BiS trinkets, Worldbreakers and Empty Drinking Horn. Your dps will skyrocket after getting those two, even without tier. Tier is not as important as those two trinkets.

For Fury, minor stuff you can work on for your pull dmg:
    1. When you pull, you are wasting a time casting spells that are not on the GCD. you can make a "Go HAM" macro that pops all your CDs and it won't interfere with your rotation. Don't waste 1-2 seconds casting recklessness and bloodbath.
    2. Cast recklessness before your first bloodthirst so it will almost always crit and give u enrage.
    3. Always prepot
    4. I wouldn't lead with a storm bolt during the opener. Its not SoO, storm bolt does garbage damage so use it as a filler. Siegebreaker does the most dmg so lead with that if you are using it, other wise lead with execute on a sudden death proc.

  15. #1655
This is heroic. Panzar in our guild does over 100k easy. Im struggling to even get to 100k. Maybe its tab targetting. Issues I have with that is tab likes to stick. And you have to press it 2x to switch. It also likes to go thru every target. So I have to point and click to get back to the boss sometimes. So not sure im spending too much time doing that.

One thing not solid on. Is how often to use CS. Someone told me to use it when 2 GCDs are left on the debuff which would mean 3secs. But some logs I looked at showing CS getting refreshed after a few seconds. Rend can become a chore when you have a lot of targets up. There was times when I didn't rend cause I didn't think the adds would be up long enough to be worth it. To me I feel arms is a lot harder to learn to play vs fury. I also have the demon trinket I think I was using that during this fight.

    Galvin-

To sum it up your cooldown usage is really poor, you're not casting MS enough and your CS usage is all over the place. You only used Recklessness once in the whole fight, and it was during the last 10 seconds? On your opener you just charged in casted Rend and then waited a few seconds before casting a Mortal Strike.

Your opener should be Rend>CS>MS, with all of your CDs coming in just before the MS so that they line up with ring and beef up your Execute damage on the Doomfire which should be cleaved onto Archi. You're casting Whirlwind more than you need to as well, the problem is that it does pathetic damage and gets in the way of your Mortal Strikes meaning you can't cast them as much as you should be. You shouldn't use CS whilst the debuff is already up until the final second of it either.

Simply line up your CDs with ring and execute and you'll see a big jump in your damage. You can pull off some insane numbers during the last phase by focusing Archi and cleaving Executes onto nearby infernals. As for your targeting problems, I assume you mean the Dreadstalkers because they can be really slippery. It's worth trying to Rend a couple of them when they come out of the gate but don't bother trying to chase them down for it.

Edit- You should use the Gorefiend trinket instead of the heirloom one too

The problem is MS don't always reset during CS. So WW is used as filler. So I just do nothing during a whole CS if I dont get a MS proc?
Our top dps warrior uses it the heirloom on demon fights. I'll double check on that though for arhchimonde.

for reck usage wasn't sure if the fight was going to last long enough to get 2 in. So I just waited for execute, but adds always come up at 20% so I had to deal with those first, by the time I got back on target it was the last 10 seconds.

The only time you should ever use Whirlwind is if you're about to rage cap and it won't interfere with your Mortal Strikes. MS needs to be on CD ALL the time. For example, if your MS is not on CD and your Rend ticks then you probably just lost a cast of MS because of your 2pc. To avoid that scenario you just need to make sure you have an open GCD for whenever Rend ticks or MS comes off of CD, I use pastebin.com/LhS2eU3W (WeakAura) to track my Rend. Whilst Archi is <20% you should only swap to the infernals to put a Rend on them if they're going to live long enough, then just cleave Executes onto them. Your Reck CD with AM is about 2 minutes 10 so you're always going to have enough time to pop it on pull unless you've got some crazy DPS going on.

Thanks for the rend tick timer. But that just makes it worse. To watch that timer and the boss fight just takes too much focus. So I cant really use this. Is this the only way to do good damage as arms? So I been just using MS during CS, but I also rage cap far more often now too. Refreshing CS less often too helped. But i'm still miles behind. I'm starting to think it takes a very high skill level to push 85+ percentile. my DPS performance is just total crap. This is all getting very frustrating.

Hellfire high council. I should be doing closer to 150k dps based on parses I see.

Well..you guys aren't doing the high council fight for optimal Arms damage. If you don't want to desync the ring, optimally, you'd keep Gurtogg alive until the ring comes up again so you can dump fully buffed executes + sweeping strikes on both Gurtogg and Blademaster. If your raid won't adjust strats, just go desync your ring and blow your load on Gurtogg at your own leisure, looks like it should also line up for you to ring+execute on Blademaster as well.

Don't stress out about playing Arms. Its a very relaxing spec. You press rend and then face roll on CS and MS. I like running Avatar for big crits, you'll find yourself enjoying Arms a lot more when you see 1mil crits all the time
