First of all let me apologise for the awful attempt at describing this addon.

When I see people logged onto alts in my Guild it always has their main's name in brackets, is that an addon or an interface option within the game, if not what is the name of said addon.

The is an option in chatter that reads guild notes and puts the name in brackets.

I think a few others do it though as well.

It's an addon normally (unless it has been added to the interface recently). I don't know the name but it's bundled in Prat and Chatter amongst others.

Prat has this as an optional module, it's disabled by default.

There's many addons that do it - it is part of many chatframe addons - like the aforementioned Prat and Chatter.
