    Role Forums, Pros and Cons.

So I did some digging and noticed there's been suggested role forums a few years back, and one earliest in February. I didn't want to necro that thread, though, so I figured I'd make a new shiney thread.

Basically, I find that finding a good place to talk about my specific role is a bit tricky. It's either the Paladin forum (I'm a Holy Paladin, obviously), whereas the Priests, druids and Shamans probably wont read my stuff, or in the General Section, which is already pretty flooded with everything else, and people might not go there to discuss their role.

I'm not sure how to implement the forums in a much more tidy way, but the guild recruitment forums could probably be edited to take up less space on the main forum page. Basically two forums, EU and US, then have subforums inside would make it look a bit more clean. Then we have plenty of room for a Tank / Healer / DPS forum. No? Perhaps.

Anyway, Pros and Cons you say? Let's try.

    Pros:
Easier way for Healers, tanks or DPS to communicate on the forums.
Gives a much easier overview, instead of having to look through several forums to find threads and such.
Easier to know where to post your questions, threads or whatever floats your boat if it doesn't suit your class forum.
Let's face it, almost nobody uses the official wow forums anymore. Only mostly whiners and such.
Ghostcrawler only really posts on the US forums, the EU role forums rarely have any sort of moderation or blue stuff. No love for Europe!

    Cons:
Might take up some forum space, forums could look a bit less professional(?)
Could give less traffic to certain class forums (Probably the main issue)

I can't really think of that many cons. So if anyone has something, please bring it up.

    Thoughts about this?

Usually it's either or role forums, or class forums.

It doesn't make much sense having both, and for a community like mmo-champion's, having class forums is the way to go imo.

Sure, you can discuss healing in your class forum. But if tanks wants to discuss stuff, it would be nice if they had a forum for it. Same with Healers and DPS, maybe a Mage wants to ask other DPS about something. Does he create a thread in each class forum? Post in the General Section? No! He posts it in the DPS forum!

I don't like the idea. 90% of the questions will still have to be answered by someone of the OP's class.

Because even with all the talk of homogenisation, classes are still considerably different from eachother.

"I'm constantly at the bottom of DPS, what am I doing wrong?"
"I can't keep AoE threat, halp!"
"What's the easiest way to heal boss x?"

The only good those role forums would to would be for the most general tips on fights. But as soon as you get more specific than "What does a DPS/Tank/healer have to pay attention for on boss x?" you need someone of your class to help you.
