Need a lot of help deciding which parts to buy

    Hi guys.

Yes, I've made this account with the sole purpose of getting help from you guys (although I've been reading mmo-champion for three years now), that's how awesome I think you guys are.

    Getting to the point,
it's been almost five years since I've bought a new computer and I think it's way overdue. I would need this computer to be built for games and for software development. So, I'll be most likely playing some of the newer games (Skyrim, HoMM IV, Space Marine etc), but also be using a lot of VMs, development tools, etc. so I also need a lot of RAM.

Now, I am in no hurry to buy it (I am a bit excited tho), and I would have no problem with waiting a bit for the prices to drop, or for a better piece. So if there is a certain event in the near future that will lower some of the prices significantly please say so.

So, I am only keen on having 8 GBs of RAM and the rest is up to you. And the build should be between 700 and 800 eur. Oh, and I also don't need any peripherals.

Thank you, so much, for all your help and time.

CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 $49.99 == OVER BUDGET
    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB $38.99
Hard Drive: Samsung Spinpoint F3 $64.99

Source this build through amazon.co.uk or another European retailer. Then when shopping just adjust the memory to an 8GB kit.

Thank you, Culadin, for your recommendation. I have already checked out all the stickies (sorry for not mentioning this before, I forgot). Problems I have with this build include: 200-300 eur below my budget, some of those parts is pretty hard to find here (in Serbia) and I would have to import them. I know I am asking for a lot, but my options are kinda limited, since I have not really kept myself informed on new stuff, hardware wise.

Again, thank you for your help.

Are you looking to purchase from Serbia? Or is there a European dealer you prefer to deal with that has low shipping costs ect?

Is there a specific site that you're looking to purchase all of the parts from?

Also, Culadin's build is nice, but well under your budget. If you're looking to spend the full 800 euros, you can get a much better GPU.

I would prefer to buy all the parts in Serbia, but if there is a dealer with incredibly low shipping costs I wouldn't mind getting all the parts from them.

There is no specific site, but there is a site that shows (and compares) all the prices from all major sellers in Serbia that is quite accurate and up to date, so I am using it to check the prices. (Google for itsvet, I can't post any links yet)

Hmm sorry about that. Guess the US dollar is quite a bit further down from the Euro than I assumed. Let's go with this then.

    Intel i5 2500K 166.80
    Gigabyte Z68A-D3 92.66
    8GB G.Skill Kit 40.00
    1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 46.90
MSI Geforce 560 Ti Twin Frozr II 299.99
    OCZ 600W ModX PSU 54.99
Coolermaster CM Storm Scout Mid Tower 84.99
    22X Samsung DVD R/RW 12.00
Windows 7 Home Premium OEM 70.00
Total is around 870 Euro. You can swap some parts around such as switch vendors on the video card to save money and a less expensive case. Could even drop the power supply down and maybe save 10 or 15 Euro. I included an OS assuming you would need one.

Dont be too fooled here find out your import tax then move from there. At this point the ivy chips are slated to come out real soon will they be in your budget not to sure but possible. So id wait unless your over zealous to get it going also you can get like 16gb of Corsair Veng Ram at like $80 US so idk the conversion rate but its food for thought. Also look into crossfire or sli options and so on and so forth.

No need to wait for ivy bridge as sandy bridge is an amazing gaming chip. Also, don't look into CrossfireX/SLI right away. If you wanna buy get a compatible mobo so you can get a card now and another down the road, that works, but I'd advise against getting two less powerful cards over one beast.

16 gigs of RAM is overkill unless you really need it. You said you'll only need 8, so get 8 now and if you find out it's not enough, get 8 more.

This has nothing to do with the OP - USD vs the requested euros... WELL over his budget. Be more constructive with builds instead of just putting in the best of everything you can find.

Thank you, again, for all your help. I cross-checked all the parts you listed and it turns out that the parts cost around 200 euros less here (which is kinda perfect, because those prices you listed were in pounds) so it totals down to around 700 euros. And I also don't need Windows since I am a Computer Sciences student, so I get it for free.

I will most likely go with this build. Thank you.

Thank you for your suggestion but I don't really want to wait another 5-6 months before I get a new computer and I think that I don't really need more than one GPU, since I am not stuck on using ultra settings for everything.

But you did remind me that it would be really practical if I could hook up more than one monitor at home too, so I'll have to look into it.

    Thank you.

Yeah, I was thinking of doing just that, but I am fairly certain that I won't be needing more than 8 in the near future. Thank you for your recommendations.
