I tend to do direct digital purchase, since they usually come with some way of downloading the game all over again without having to pay for it in case something happens.
I get all my purchases retail, i don't trust anything digital since it doesn't actually exist
If you can't make fun of something, its probably not worth taking seriously.
For PC gaming I usually go with digital because it's far more convenient, that and there are a LOT of great sales. Occasionally I'll pick up a retail copy of a game if I happen to be out and about and I see it on sale, but that's not too common since usually the games I'm interested aren't on sale when I happen to be at a store : /

Do you think that was a good or bad thing that STEAM sell there prepaid card at gamestop so you can buy them if you don't have a debit/credit card because me and gamestop well *honestly* they have screw me too many times from games or accesories or pre-order they are just a shi@@% company and they don't care about gamer just profit !
Steam.
If not Steam, Amazon or GoG.
If I have to go to a store, I usually pick Target or Walmart.

Digital all the way. I really don't miss cd cases lying all around the place.
Gamestop is looking for ways to stay relevant and prep for the move to more digital distribution (already on the way) so they're looking for ways to sell services other than just hard copies of games. Steam gets a nice bonus out of it in that it helps them reach a broader audience that might not have been interested in using the service before.
More options is always better for the consumer.
And FYI every company cares about profit, and if the company is publicly traded they are LEGALLY OBLIGATED to care about it.
Digital, if I know it's a game I'm genuinely interested in and can get a good amount of enjoyment out of. I buy a cheaper retail version if I'm not so sure. Last digital game I bought was Sleeping Dogs, and I don't regret it at all. Last retail game I bought was probably Dead Island, and I do regret it, but at least I'm glad I got it for half of what it cost as a digital download.
