    WoW performance on new computer

So I recently bought a new computer, CPU I5-3750K, GPU MSI Twin Frozr AMD Radeon HD 7850/OC Power Edition, RAM-Corsair Venegance 2x4 gb kit, MoBo Asus Z77-M-PRO. Is it normal that I have like 25-35 fps in Stormwind Trade District with everything on Ultra? I am asking, because one of my friends bought basically the same machine with a bit worse GPU and he has like 10-15 fps more there. I installed latest drivers for everything. I havent updated my Windows7 yet, but I dont think it can be caused by it.

    Thanks for opinions...

Does he have a solid state drive? Large cities usually involve a lot of file loading as there are so many people there with so many different pieces of gear.

EDIT: Given you have such low frames, I'm going to assume that you do not have one.

Ultra is still pretty high because of the engine itself. Try turning down shadows and water effects (since you're in Stormwind) and things should improve. Shadows in general cripple machines.

Shadows will drag down the performance quite the bit.. set it to high instead of ultra and you should notice a huge increase in fps.

Also did you just copy your Wow folder over? Were you playing since the recent patch? If not make sure you enable addon error messages and start disabling and updating the broken ones. If you disable all addons and performance is great you know where the problem lies.

Yep, it's the shadows. Set that to high, everything on Ultra, 60+ FPS almost everywhere, and you won't really miss much graphics-wise

We have exactly the same hdd. I used fresh installation of wow, we have the same resolution 1920x1080... We also use the same addons, Tukui... which is very lightweight...

I have like 50-60 fps in 25 man raid when everyone is spamming aoe, so its fine. Its just bothering me sometimes in SW FPS drops to 20 while I am in middle of 50 ppl and he has stable fps around 40...
