I think it is / will be the best expansion as long as they don't release and horrible raid tiers like TOC or DS. I'm not sure what people find so terrible about PVP this expansion because the
I liked most of the raids in BC (especially Kara, BT and Sunwell) but I don't remember there being that much to do outside of raiding in the way that so many people go on about.

There are still rep grinds like that. For klaxxi you can grind as many dread amber shards for rep as you like. Don't think that's really any different to grinding fel armaments.... but it's boring so most people don't bother with it.

Being bored of the game because you've played it for a long time doesn't indicate the quality of the content 1 way or another. The content this expansion is better than previous expansions.... Am I having the most fun i've ever had playing wow ? No probably not.... but that's not because the content isn't the best it's ever been. Things completely unrelated to the content affect a persons enjoyment. Everything from the people in your guild, how burned out you are (partially controlled by how much a player plays which is completely unrelated to game quality) etc.
If I was a new player coming to WOW i'd enjoy MOP far more than I enjoyed Vanilla, BC, WOTLK or Cata (and not because it's too easy because it's certainly no easier than WOTLK or Cata).
Amber Shards have a a much lower drop rate, and are BoP. Fel Armaments dropped in Heroics and the world and you only needed 1 per hand in. Amber Sahrds require 5 and only drop in the world (That I have personally noticed).
So you could essentially buy the Fel Arms because you didn't like grinding, or you could farm them and sell them yadda yadda yadda
As per your PvP post, it's incomplete, but the PvP this expansion is pure burst. There's no thought behind it other than "Blow up this target". Burst Damage is out of control, so is burst healing. There is far too many CCs with a lot of them being instant and resilience *feels* as if it doesn't do anything.
To me personally, PvP just feels as if there's no tactical portion to it other than "run in and blow it up.

I say that Wrath is the best expansion... not BC. Does that not make me "people"? :P
I have played since vanilla, and played each expansion in it's so called "prime" and in all honesty I enjoyed Wrath the most out of all of them. Don't get me wrong, MoP included a lot of cool stuff...but I never found myself searching for things to do in wrath in all honesty. I found the rep grinds weren't too bad...even if you didn't use a tabard they still didn't take too long to get up. I loved the dungeons/heroics. I don't think there was a single one I genuinely didn't like. I actually looked forward to que'ing in for a random heroic...
As much as I think MoP added I think they added too much "grindy" stuff. I don't mind the occasional grind...but it gets old fast when everything you do is considered a grind. Need VP capped? Well you have to do twice as many heroics than you did in cata to get that...or just do all your dailies every day (which can take up 2-3 hours easy every single day...yuck). And the rep (though not so bad on alts) is a real pain your first grind through. I don't Valor cap every week and I still don't have all reps to exalted yet. Partly because I refuse to spend all the time I have in the game capping valor and doing dailies...I have alts I want to level for their professions...but MoP is not very alt friendly.
The last xpac where I felt leveling and gearing alts was a fairly fun process was wrath. Cata wasn't terrible, it just sucked how ilvl worked in cata...I remember if I had any heirloom gear on characters it would sometimes take me til level 86 before I finally got a quest reward to "boost my ilvl" just so I could simply que into a normal dungeon I had cleared on heroic a dozen times on my mains.
Not gonna say MoP is bad, but titling it the best expansion just seems a bit much, even though they added many cool features, I am not having near as much fun in MoP as I did in wrath. I am hoping in time that will change or improve...but for now that is the only judgement I can pass about how I feel about it. Though I still think MoP has cata beat I hated the quest zones in cata...MoP, even though leveling sometimes gets boring cause of the lack of choice on where to level from 84-85...I still enjoy it more than the cata leveling experience. But I loved the wrath leveling experience...a lot of choice on where to level made it fun. Even if it was mainly for the earlier levels...you never had to hit up every zone (or even get close to hitting up every zone). It always felt like a new adventure every alt you made.
Wasn't expecting so much interrest.
I can understand why some people claim quality =/= quantity but it all comes down to personal preferences, if you like grindy stuff or not.
PvP is currently being worked on, they're nerfing burst hard time.
And please, don't tell me that PvP in Vanilla/TBC was better. I was 3 shotting people on my warrior, all the time.
This expansion drove me away from the game with the abortion they called PvP.
When were you 3 shotting people in BC with a warrior? Even Back to Back Windfury Procs (Via totem) wouldn't even allow for this.
And could you post an armoury link of said warrior?
BTW Genetikz, it's a loaded question. :http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/...5#post14329025

I personally don't like MoP. Questing is incredibly boring. Game feels like a chore.
Raids are unexciting. Meh. Just don't like it.
Some like it. Some hate it. It won't be considered the best expansion until it's active subs pass the highest they've been; which was in Wrath.
There are good people in every corner of the planet. Unfortunately, the Earth is round.
While the OP may have a point there are still people that dont consider petbattles, achievments and things like that as actual content. Thus i dislike MoP. And while the PvE raiding concent is okay-ish the PvP is even worse than at the beginning of Wotlk imho.
Content is content, regardless of how you feel about it. Just because you personally aren't interested in it doesn't mean it didn't take tons of development time and is available for the many, many people that do play it. I hate PvP and have since I started playing back at the beginning, but I've never considered it not to be content purely because I don't enjoy it.
I don't know whether or not I'd call this the best expansion yet, because it's only been out for a matter of a couple months. I feel expansions should be judged based on what was done during their lifespan, not just what's available right at the start. I think that's especially the case for the people who are, understandably, put off by what I hear is bad PvP at the moment. I can sympathize--despite my aforementioned dislike of PvP in general--but I think these problems will be ironed out as soon as they're able to. Balancing PvP has always been a long, difficult and ongoing process for Blizz and this has been compromised by the addition of a new class (I recall there being a similar outcry during Wrath when DK's were released), so I think some patience is called for.
I am enjoying this expansion thus far, though I must say for full disclosure I have enjoyed every expansion to date including Cataclysm. I think the reason most people hate Cataclysm is because Blizz spent so much time remodeling the old world and corresponding quest lines that they didn't have enough in the tank to focus more on end-game content at release and spent the entire lifetime of the expansion trying to play catch-up with a player base that was chomping at the bit. The redesigned zones are absolutely a joy to play through and are a (subjective) zillion times better in terms of storyline, flow and variety than they were before, but the bulk of the existing player base never went back to explore them again. New players or those leveling alts, however, got a real treat...
But yes, MoP has been great so far as far as I'm concerned. I play perhaps two hours a day maximum (there are a lot of different games I like to play concurrently, it saves me from burning out on one in particular) and I am never short of something to do. While I agree--as do the devs--that the daily quests were taken a bit to the extreme out of the gate, I had no problems earning Exalted with all of the factions already within that limited playtime and reaping the rewards from doing so. Now I have a new faction to pay attention to and the devs seem to have learned from the first batch both by cutting down on the sheer number and also interspersing standard storyline-advancing quests among the faction tiers...and not just at the start of a new tier. Great change!
I also get quite a lot out of my Tillers farm and am grateful for that feature, I've managed to find and defeat all of the rares introduced thus far and had a blast doing so, I'm still working on the first Wrathion quest (those Sigils just don't want to drop for me) and am playing LFR for the first time this expansion and, despite the occasional bad egg, they've been going fairly smoothly. So well, in fact, that I lament not having tried LFR during the last expansion. Regardless of the rap it gets--sometimes deservedly, often not--I'm having fun making those runs, and though I do end up only getting bags of gold many a time there's always that little bit of excitement when the boss health is closing in on zero and you're mentally crossing your fingers for that drop you want...or crossing them again while going for a bonus roll.
All in all, I'd say it is to date a very good expansion. My interest in WoW is still intact after all of these years and it does not seem that MoP will be the one to drive me away. My condolences and well-wishes to those who felt that WoW no longer appealed to them--though I'm not sure where else they'd be able to turn to to get what they want. I plan on sticking around a while longer. Good job, Blizzard.
Edit: As an addendum, for those who are irritated with the PvP at the moment I would recommend playing Planetside 2 while Blizz is working through the balancing problems. It is free to play (you don't have to spend one penny even to buy it), massively multiplayer and skill-based. It is also great fun once you learn the ropes. I'm not trying to shill for Sony, but I wanted to provide a possible alternative for the PvPers among us to vent some of their frustrations.

People just cant realize that what passed has passed and won't come back, seeing most of the people here wanting vanilla back is just another forum thread, and yes I'd bet most of the people here didnt even know how buggy vanilla was or how hard TBC was at first. But on topic, I do think that MoP could be a new start for wow as long as they are fixing stuff up bit by bit and I hope they do so for PvP asap
TBC may have been technically more of a grind, but the game was still new at the time so you did it to get through and personally I didn´t mind doing it that way. The problem imo with current grind is the game is less and less about mmo and more solo play wether or not you are in a guild. TBC grind meant you had to interact with others (no automatic qq system) to get things done. While the current you can do yourself, and given the nature of the average player today its almost forced (especially on servers with low pop on one side). The only really bad thing I recall from tbc is the starting areas and the initial escort / follow quest in shattrath.
"Only Jack can zip up."
The word you want to use is "have" not "of".
You may have alot of stuff in your country, but we got Lolland.
It's baffling how so many people point to BC and Wotlk sub numbers and think that explains which kind of content/expansion most people should consider to be the best for the game. The end of BC and most of Wotlk took place in a time that was at the beginning of the Great Recession, which began the overall decline in the video game market. There is less interest in the buying and playing of video games today than there was back then. For example, Nintendo, with its host of iconic franchises and high level of innovation, has been struggling mightily. Any notion that WoW expansions following BC and Wotlk should have attracted the same amount or more people, simply because more time has passed, is false.
There are some companies that still are able to pull off very good profits, despite the economy and sliding video game sales. Blizzard (and Activision Blizzard in general), despite the nonstop criticism it gets from video game forum posters (i.e., people who are generally a lot more hardcore about video games than your average player), is actually pretty good at this based on the numbers we've been given so far for MOP and its other franchises.

my favorite expansion is BC still due to the nostalgia :P
but MoP comes second.
i also liked WotLK alot for the Viking and Death themes.
i absolutely loathed cataclysm though.
Well if you don't find the new content enjoyable it doesn't matter how much development time went into it. Personally for me MoP is so far not my favorite expansion because I preferred other aspects of previous expansions more than this expansion's content...so far. It's still very, very early into the expansion so I'm openminded to see where things are going to go.
