Is there any difference, other than the GHz higher factory clock? Is a overclocked normal 7970 just as good?

I am misunderstanding this. Same cards???? DETAIL
>.> POST THE DIFFERENT NAMES! Like, they're going to have slightly different names, please give us details...
He did.
There are "7970" and "7970 Ghz Edition". Those are literally the model names from ATI.
It's got slightly faster clocks on the core and ram.
... Wat. Ok... Ummm... Did you check what the video ram is? The higher version might be 4 gig
Again. The "Ghz Edition" have a higher clock, specifically they break the 1ghz mark. There are "Ghz Edition" versions for the 7770, 7870, and 7970.
The GHz version has a higher clock, apart from brand differences that should be about it.

They're also way higher binned than the normal 7970, so in theory it's supposed to overclock much higher.

probly also has a bigger cooling fan
Most of the Ghz Editions are literally identical cards with higher ratings. Same cooling and heatsink and everything.

I've read that the GHz edition has better VRAM, so it means that it can be overclocked higher.
I'm currently running my GHz edition @ 1200 / 1600 and not had issues yet.

Any good sites that include this card in their computers which you can customize. I know yeah make your own you save $$ that way but due to medical conditions I cannot so im stuck to depending on companies like Ibuypower, which does not have the ghz edition in their list.
I watched some reviews of the 7970 GHz, and some people were able to set the core/memory clock very high, same with
the regular 7970. Sometimes people got disappointing results on their GHz overclock. Is the the highest clock you can get on
the GHz dependent on luck just like the regular 7970, and is the GHz worth the higher price?

I'm in the market for a 7970 myself, glad I found this thread. If I'm not over clocking, the regular version should suit my needs?
