I would swap that Zotac gtx 780 for an Asus gtx 780 dc2oc less noise/better temps and the shroud is made from metal instead of plastic. Also there's no point in a 7200RPM drive nowadays if green/red drives performs the same with much less noise.

The Zotac AMP is a good card and one of the higher-clocked 780's available. Otherwise, the MSI 780 would work and is at a similar price(The Asus 780 is $30 more than both the MSI & the Zotac, while giving similar performance).
The AMP seems to be sold out at ME and the next option is at Newegg.ca. As long as the AMP card is V2(which it is) and not V1(it has BIOS issues, resulting in a louder fan and worse performance), it will work fine.

The 780 dc2oc goes for 530 @ ncix.com so just avoid that zotac and instead get a 780 dc2oc giving you an extra year of warranty, a backplate, metal shroud, a bracket that prevents the card from sacking & better accoustics. You shouldn't cheap out on a 500$ card really

$540 at NCIX(because they are in canada), although I did find this while browsing their available cards.

Not really true, could easily get max settings on EVERY game at 1080p with the budget he listed. My current rig only cost about 1.2k - 1.3k a year ago and I can run every game at max settings, even high req games like crysis 3 at max. You just have to shop around for good prices.
I agree with this. It's wrong to say that's too small of a budget. My current PC cost just under $1100, including Windows. Yet here it is, can run every game at max settings, no problem. Even has a SSD and a full tower. The best thing I did was time my build with Black Friday.
You didn't mention streaming at all (although context implies you don't), but in case you think you would like to, then stick with an Nvidia GPU. Shadowplay works so nicely and doesn't slaughter your framerate as badly as most solutions.
I never stream, my parents gave me lots of attention when I was younger so I haven't developed the desire to do that. :P
(just teasing)
No, I don't stream, I really don't play at a level high enough to warrant doing that. Unless of course people enjoy seeing colossal fuck ups, then by all means watch me play. :'D
