[Music] Dubstep: Thoughts on this genre?

So, I've been a fan of Dubstep several years now. Altho I cant recall if it was much dubstep pre - Skrillex, altho i've listened to a good mount of his work back when he was mainstream. I've kept with dubstep ever since. Monstercat, Knife Party, The Glitch Mob, Seven Lions etc etc are artists (or bands, whatever you want to call them) is what im listning to, most of the time. So, my question really is:
What is your thoughts on the genre Dubstep?

Is it music you personally enjoy?
Hate, like, love, dislike etc? Why?
Any other responses or answers, feel free to say your opinion on it! Love it or hate it, dubstep is here to stay!

P.S if it was hard to read, I have to blame it on my "no sleep night"..sorry folks

I dont have a particular opinion that swings either way. I dont hate it, there are songs that I like and songs that I dont like which goes for pretty much all other genres as well. I'll listen to it if it sounds good to me.

It was alright back then but it has become rather repetitive as many artists try to make some easy cash. What are the cool kids listening to now? Trap or is dubstep still big?

I don't like it at all, and think it's terrible music. But then, I don't like much music except for metal, so there's that.

I can tell you this much: I used to listen to metal for like.. idk, 4-5 years straight, then I started to enjoy the more.. wubbwubby music and its style, but Metal is still a good mood booster!

Any particular artists you like? Within any genre of dub, trap, chill, etc?

    It's the rap of techno.

Stealing samples and monetizing off of them. Lyrically shallow; earsores.

    "But there's good rap!"

No, there isn't. People prefer to call it hip hop.

Pretty much this. I like some dubstep because it reminds me of dnb.

Anything commercial is nearly always shit tho, regardless of genre, and this applies here too.
Some wubs are good & some arent.

Maybe I should've changed the name to Electronic music in general...

    What's a wub?

Dubstep gun was fun in saints row 4. I used to know this chick in WoW who was a dubstep artist. I didn't like it too much. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't my preference in music.

Wub is kinda the signature of dubstep music. It goes more into wub wubb wub, than other "noises" or "words"
Just gonna copy paste what a "wub" is: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_song_...ub_wub#slide=2
Longass text, but hey..its atleast an answer, right?

I always thought dubstep was one of those joke genres that the internet come up with... only recently I discovered that people actually like to listen to it.

But hey what do I know about music *Turns classic.fm back on*

I haven't heard any that appealed to me. As for why I dislike it, I dunno..I don't find the sounds pleasant? Much rather hear some classic rock or metal guitar. Or for that matter, some of the good, classic country story songs. Or some bombastic classical...I dunno, just not heard any dubstep I like. Not big on electronic music in general...Voyager and The Birthday Massacre both use some electronic elements and I like those bands, but they're the exceptions rather than the rule...and even with them, the electronic elements are basically second to the guitar and vocals.

It sounds rather tasteless in my ears - sounds very much like music for very young people - but then again, I'm by no means an authority in electronic music.

Please, why would u listen to dubstep when you could just listen to dnb, i honestly hate the fact that the two are even compared/related.

DnB is excellent, dubstep not so much.

If it has good music in the background I enjoy it.

If it is just Bass and "wub wub wub" bullshit, I hate it.

I love it! It's technological classical music to me.
I'm an avid classical and opera music listener

I can't listen to straight dubstep it gives me a headache, it needs to have vocals in it. Chillstep with female vocals is the closest I'll get to it.

Not really crazy about it. I mostly like Dubstep a la Kryptic Minds and Biome, and producers such as Dub Phizix, Enei, and Octane & DLR, where it's difficult to differentiate minimal dnb/deep dnb from dubstep.

Dubstep: What I imagine two dot-matrix printers having violent sex would sound like.

    Never did understand the appeal.
