I think WoD is a lot closer then it appears...

The expansion is much closer then most people are thinking. Due to several reasons which of course is my own speculation from actions Blizzard has been doing and saying. The simple fact that there has been no beta release of yet suggests their beta testing internally and with there much larger staff size, it's obvious they want to keep things as hush as possible and keep the content new as possible this time around. A small other reason is they hinted they don't want people on a binge come leveling time and have removed realm first everything, which of course they don't want people on beta finding farm zones for power leveling. They want people to properly go threw the content.

This week with WoW maintenance and raid resets is also a big red flag, that sort of thing is very odd and obviously means something. Then the very next day they released the Gnome video. It could only be adding the boost to 90 feature, or could also be WoD open for pre-order this coming Tuesday. If that turns out to be the case the actual release would be aimed for Mid-July very earliest to Late August very latest due to Blizzard's past wait times when pre-ordering comes available.

Was also mentioned as we all know that there much further ahead then previous expansion which translates into a faster release date, if it obviously released any later then September it wouldn't have been faster at all. Also with recent interview's with Blizzard they leave very subtle bread crumbs that were in for a surprise.

Almost everything is pointing towards a August 1st-31st release date. (To also starve of drastic sub drops to boot).

I think in the next 2 days to 2 weeks a lot of info will be coming to light.

Also heard a rumor Blizzcon 2014 is going to be Mid August this year, seems to fit perfectly they would release it a week after.

August is a good guess, but i still have faith that they can release it in July. My original guess way back in November was June 24th.

Wasn't the whole "we are further ahead than we have been before" quote said by Ghostcrawler right after Blizzcon? If so, who knows if they are still further ahead than they were in times past. It's been 4 months since then and a lot can change in that time.

Doubtful. They probably would have already announced it if that were the case.

It's possible. But i think that would give away to much at this point in time. Honestly am expecting tickets to go on sell late April to early May.

When they had Blizzcon 2007 in August it wasn't announced till April 12th. If the rumor is true it would be announced in time frame i mentioned above.

I think the fact you just got a trailer selling max level characters means you can plan on enjoying that max level character till at least the end of August.

I love the idea that we are all sitting here squabbling over beta, and then one bleary morning we wake up to an announcement that there will be NO beta, and the release date is given sooner than expected. No, I don't think that will actually happen - but it would be really cool if it did.

Yeah, I'd love if this is what happened, I'm kinda sick of hearing about EVERYTHING before it comes out, I don't want my first experience of all new content to be mmo-champ :P I love it for class changes and the forums, but I tend to avoid looking through a lot of the screenshots, models and what not now because it really made me lose interest in playing. I like how many things they've got going on twitter now too.

Back on topic, I'd expect like mid June earliest, but we'll obviously have to leave it up to them and just sit in wait :P

Impossible to tell until we see what we get in beta. All speculation is useless until we get beta (which they will do suddenly). We essentially have just enough info to make guesses, but we also don't have enough to tell what info is relevant and which isn't.

And combined with that we have a few other pieces of info from MMO-C people that throws more wrenches into any guesses. (New internal protection system which may effect what gets data mined and possibly updating their download system).

August is the earliest it can be feasible.
No way we can get the full round of testing in otherwise.

August is far from "Sooner than I would expect". No way it's august. I'm saying end of may. Early june.

No, it isn't the earliest. Pre orders are most likely this week for WoD. Beta will be soon after. 3 months of beta will be around june.

I think its pretty clear that the game should be in beta right now... blizzard is just holding back a couple of weeks until after the diablo 3 expansion is released... Come April 1st you will see the beta announcement,

There's a very good chance there will be a beta just not the length were all used too. Would more then likely be a limited number and 1-2 month in duration in Alpha.

August still means 11 months of Soo... not exactly what people were expecting or wanting, Tbh it's getting to that point where I don't care anymore will be playing other games until Warlords hits and not subscribing until it does.

As much as I'd love it.... No.

They need 2-3 months just to do dungeon and raid testing. Even with a reduced load on questing, they won't completely eliminate it. 4 months is probably bare minimum for testing.

Ghostcrawler's previous comments about the extended public beta tests for Cata and MoP yielding very little usefulnformation coupled with the delay on this beta definitely hints at Blizzard taking the TBC approach this time around.

For TBC, they did the bulk of the work internally and had the world almost completely polished prior to opening the public beta. The public beta was then used primarily for marketing, dungeon feedback, and getting feedback for class mechanic changes. It only lasted about 3 months.

While this is certainly possible, its one of those things you won't know until you actually have beta. If that's true, that could cause a shortened beta due to them doing more testing in-house. (As a delayed beta doesn't mean delayed production, especially if its influenced by marketing concerns)

Which is just as impossible to prove/disprove as Blizz planning all along to have a September release with a long beta until we actually get the beta.

4 months is not the bare minimum. BC beta was 3 months long. Wrath was 4. There is no way we're going to see an August release for WoD. That would be suicide for blizz.

I certainly hope so. WoW is feeling deader (is that even a word?) than it ever has.
