Peace is a lie. There is only passion. Through passion I gain strength. Through strength I gain power.
Through power I gain victory. Through victory my chains are broken. The Force shall set me free.

yes it could be. Actually it is called Destiny.
Titan was going to be Second Life just with PvE and PvP stuff, without the porn.
Like do you wanna trade and stuff? Open up a shop.
Do you wanna pew pew (literally since it was gonna be futuristic) bosses? Here, PvE.
Do you wanna PvP? Here, PvP maps.
It was literally bit of everything mashed together.
I think if they were planning on an Overwatch MMO they would not have allowed Destiny 2 to be on the Blizzard app because it's too similar a concept. (shooter mmo)
I think the fact they have, says they have no immediate plans for a similar game.
Considering Blizzard has been nearly spot on when judging what would be fun in a game I'll take them at their word when they said Titan just wasn't fun. But of course you know better right? Overwatch on the other hand is a lot of fun.

Closer to Destiny, Defiance or Wildstar which weren't doing too hot in the MMO FPS type market. Even the mega shooter Planetside 2 was bombing.

I'd rather see them add a single player (or maybe even multiplayer co-op) Story campaign than I would an Overwatch MMO.
titan was going to be a class based shooter mmo, but i personally believe it was going to be 3rd person, like almost all mmos? except destiny. regardless, i truly believe that an overwatch mmo is inevitable 10 years down the line. Jeff kaplan had suggested that if overwatch became really popular (this was before fking 30 mill players lol) that they would want to expand overwatch into other forms, what could he possibly mean by that. Its either an expansion thats fully story driven or an mmo. It doesnt matter if they tried titan and it didnt work out, doesnt mean they wont do it again, and this time itll be a little different with overwatch being fleshed out as a base start (much like how warcraft 3 was to WoW). I wouldnt even compare destiny to an overwatch mmo.

The next big MMORPG is going to be in Virtual Reality, and we don't know how many years away that is sadly.
It honestly sounded very different to Blizzard's other work and kind of interesting. But a big risk.
Apparently the team was never really behind it, and/or they all had conflicting ideas of what it should be and never agreed. Which is probably why it sounds like such a mishmash. Oh well.
We got the porn after all. Kekekeke...
Just took too long to release.
Pretty sure they were trying to play catch up with their own game to include as many things possible, but when one game keeps updating while the other plays catch up, not possible.
And they figured out the MMO genre is not as popular.
They arent dumb ;p
As others have stated, Overwatch rose for the ashes of Titan -- a failed MMO project. Destiny and Destiny 2 are pretty much the game style(s) that Titan would have been.
You think so? Warcraft was always about warring factions, the main characters switching from game to game. In its essence, de game was about orcs vs humans and their allied factions. You can fit quite a bit of open storytelling into it. Overwatch is a bit more similar to a super-hero story, with the characters outshining the world. So, I really don't see how what you said applies. If you care to explain your reasoning, I am willing to be convinced otherwise.
