It's not that locks were FOTM in Mists (although I agree the damage output made them FOTM to some). It was more that the massive revamp actually made all three specs unique and fun to play. Blizzard then chipped away at the fun nerf-by-nerf, patch-by-patch, xpac-by-xpac, so that locks specs are no longer fun nor unique.

Agreed demo has always been a favorite, but after leveling as Demo in Legion I couldn't stand to hit DE anymore. I can't wait to go back to demo in BfA

That's why I am hoping implosion is baseline in BfA. Having the snap AOE in your back pocket without having to waste a talent slot would be fantastic.

As of today's build Implosion is a baseline skill for Demo and has a chance per imp to refund a shard.

demo is by far my favorite spec for locks, but the thing is that basically at most every 3rd cast is gonna be demonic empowerment, and most of the fight is just shadow bolt/demonic empowerment spam. and movement feels so punishing because to move you either a) doom b) life tap c)get lucky having a shadowy inspiration proc d) get really lucky and do all those for extended movements. the more you know fights the less punishing movement is because we have things to plan for it (demonic circle, gateway) and can tinker a bit with rotation around movement mechanics (pacing casts say for aggramar smash)

from what i've seen, no implosion in bfa, (but just saw comment below yours saying implosion is base which is SWEET) instead we chuck imp souls (soul fire). but what i've seen of bfa builds demo is looking very interesting. kinda portal mage-esque (think like riftworld assistant around eonar/hasobel). was actually saying to a guildie that that'd be a kinda cool theme, make demo a portal master a couple days before the second demo build went up.

I think its 60 seconds with a talent. Dont remember the name as I dont really play my warlock.

You've probably figured it out as im writing this 6 days later :P

I love playing all three warlock specs. Demo and affliction are insanely fun in bgs and arenas, and of course in raids. I don't understand how the rotation is "boring" when the people saying that are playing something like a hunter or frost dk. Lol

The only classes with a faster paced rotation than Demonology are shadow priests, fire mages, and windwalker monks.

That being said, I understand that a warlock can be hard to get used to for many people. Burning Rush is slow compared to Blazing Speed/Blink/Posthaste and you have to get used to setting up your gateways and such before you pull the boss if you want mobility.

People in this thread...on the warlock forum...are saying we don't have interrupts and stuns. With Supremacy, we have a choice between a ranged interrupt and an aoe stun, and we have the option to spec into Servitude and have TWO ranged interrupts or a variety of other cc at our disposal including a 5 second stun. Demonology can have four different stuns in pvp, along with an instant cast fear and five second charm.

Even if it was the most OP class in the game, I still wouldn't play it. Just boring and not a big pet fan.

Blizzard is making sure even fewer people play warlocks in the next expansion.

Aff. Lock is by far the most played(and best) DPS spec in mythic raids at the moment.

They are pretty boring and tedious though, especially in low level content, so the hordes of casuals would rather play DH or Mage or something with burst and/or mobility so they look cool in +7's or LFR or whatever.

I levelled one with the intention of playing it as a main alt for this tier, but I couldn't do it.. Destruction isn't good enough overall in comparison(And you get hit with the "You should be playing Aff") and Aff is actually the most boring thing I've played all expansion. Would much rather take the DPS hit and play SPriest or Balance Druid regardless of how strong Affliction is and I'm sure a lot of people are in that boat outside of high-end content.

Destro is fine if you have the legendaries and the gear to pair with it. If you know your rotation and are comfortable switching talents fight to fight (and gear / leggys) to best suit the encounter you will shine. Easy to parse to with such few destro locks but it makes it worth it when you do well because destro simply feels great.
