@Those that think 50% is a lot to give to charity...
Many operations that give 1% are on items they are normally selling without giving to charity, plus there is production costs. Providing this costs Blizzard very little, even including the initial development cost. I would expect similar percentages or much higher for similar items like a signed autograph.
Yes, this is a slippery slope blizzard is going down. They are just cutting out the middle man in the process of doing so (instead of going though a TCG or though direct TV). I would not be surprised if they started offering mounts too (seeing that you can get them with the TCG anyways). I would be mildly surprised if they started offering titles for $ though.
Everything is worth what its purchaser is willing to pay for it. There are a lot of people that are willing to pay 10x cost of subscription right now. This just helps empty the pockets of those willing to do so. PLUS you can tease someone for outright spending money on that, they have no excuse (they can't say, but it was everything else in the collector's edition I wanted) unless they lie and say it was a gift.
If this type of system helps keep the current subscription fees as their current value (instead of going up with inflation) I'm all for it. Provided that they don't start offering items that can obtained in the game in some way other than spending real $$.
The cuteness!
Just got the Pandaran Monk [EU Realms] - cute bugger
Pity there's no specific achivements associated with them like other collector's pets such as Frostwyrm or Anniversary ones.
I don't see the big deal. How people can get upset about a video game company selling pixels in a game is beyond me. I'll probably pick up a Panda and feel good about some of the money going to charity. It really isn't a lot. I wish 50% of what I spent on gas went to charities.
Honestly with the amount of money pulled in monthly and the amount of content pushed out over the lifespan of the game Blizzard should be showering us with free pets/mounts/vanity items.
They have been woefully slow and should be ashamed that they are now opening up an item store for the game. If you buy into this bullshit just know that the next step is adding +experience or +power 'potions' to buy in there purchased using something called Blizz Bucks.
I don't play Korean games for this very reason. Pet shop...my ass.
So disgustingly predictable.
This shit is going to pay for Bobby Kotick's salary. I hope you're happy.
Well since they already sell mounts *cough* TCG cards *cough*, i think it's a safe bet that they'll eventually start selling gear too.
I know i know companies like to make money and all but geez i really wanted that pandaren pet (free) :-\
i bought the pet and it indeed does not do everything in the youtube videoOriginally Posted by conscript

But usually you buy real things that cost money to produce. Here you buy shiny pixels so they can make it even 90% if they wanted.Originally Posted by Vashdakari
Still it's a cheap excuse for making even more money than they already make. But oh well, people who want the pet will buy this anyway so I don't qq.
Everyone who complains about micro-transactions in their game please don't let the door hit you on the way out.
YES! NEW LITTLE BUDDIES!!!!!!
Man, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah You guys are whiny bastards.
1.) If you like the Make a Wish foundation and what they do (like myself), you will probably find a way to get the monk. 50% of the price going to the charity? Yes please.
2.) If you think that this is a horrid atrocity, a crime against humanity....... Get the Fuck over yourself. Seriously. Blizzard is in the business of making money. They make money when people buy their stuff. This is another way to make money, and to donate to a charity that is near and dear to several people in the Blizzard Staff's heart.
ePhoenix would be very proud right now.
They're getting kinda crazy with the pixel crack sales.
Small pets for money... is definitely milking something.
Sure there's the wish foundation, but you can always give those money directly if you wish to send those cash.
Wow, this is a sad day for Blizzard. I was really hoping that stuff like this would never happen to WoW. Guess I'm not going to get that wish.
I just looked up how much he "earns". Ready to quit life now.Originally Posted by ramsesakama

Nice call, ming.
Hmmm... 10€ are not 10$ ... what a rip-off.
Looks like Blizzard finally got it that making ingame NPC doesn't make a difference... But what a fail that it is only for two month, guess Blizz could not resist the money wh**ing after all.
Soon to come -
1) Massive additions to pet store
2) Mount store
3) Character customizations, exp boost items, cool armor items, possible gold too to get rid of gold farmer, class change etc
4) any other guesses ? anything can happen!
