How can I stop a botter?

Hello fellow entrepreneurs. It seems on my server, Agamaggan, there is a botter that sadly is abusing the system. I would like to stop him, but I do not have enough proof. I know who his mining bot is because of a mistake in spelling his name and it turns out he logs onto this toon to let it mine elementium ore in Deepholm. I feel that this injustice should be stopped. Just need ideas on how to do so.

You think he's a bot just because of his name? If he's doing wrong just report him and leave it be.

Eh >_> It's more of his actions if you read it. "Mining in Deepholm." But you are right, and I have reported him, but I highly doubt that it's gonna stop, and sadly I can't get any money due to this. /shrug

Find somewhere else to mine, find something else to mine, find other ways of making money. Can't let one problem stop you.

The sad owner of Mineboot is in for some trouble if only he could spell. Seriously though open tickets if you and others do the same it will stop soon enough.

Good point. Just wish that all the time I spent into this prof could make me some damn money >_<

I've shot down countless bots down, just make sure your ticket is descriptive and detailed.

I love botters. They keep mats prices low so my crafters can profit.

Go elsewhere. How hard is that?

Also, not all characters that appear to be bots are, a lot of people are just that boring.

There are people that enjoy FISHING, of course there are people that enjoy mining or herbing. It doesn't mean they're botting, just that they're boring.

p.s. there's nothing you can do. if he's truly hacking, he's probably below the map, speed hacking or other such cheats. if he's not, just make a toon on the opposite faction and gank him. or you can report but I really don't trust that does anything.

my herbalist is called Herbbot. when i go on a farming fix i fly round for hours grinding herbs while watching a movie on my second moniter. just because hes ignoring you while you talk to him doesnt mean he isnt there.

Also 1 person cannot farm an entire zone alone. if you see him simply go a different direction to him. if he is a bot hell probably be flying circles around the very edge. that leaves the rest of the zone for you

Like Blizzard care about farming bots, lol.
Guy from my guild botted 16 hours a day for 5 months. Only stopped because he quit, made quite a bit selling the gold to websites, too.

First of all, there are always ways to tell if it's a botter. Most of them are obvious, even the ones that don't speed hack or hack terrain. I know there are people who can spend hours on end mindlessly fishing or mining etc, hell every once in a while I do it myself, but when it's a bot it behaves a bit differently if you just watch it for a few minutes. Secondly, reporting does do something. I have personally gotten lots of botters banned on my server by reporting their behavior names and locations in detail. It may not happen as fast as we'd like but it does happen. And the more people report a bot the more chances there are of him getting banned.

LOL, care to explain what traits informs you beyond a doubt it is a botter?

Step away from the water cooler, your not impressing anyone. Without specifics on how you know 100% it is a botter your talking out your mounts nether region

doesnt stop that quick though, my friends account got hacked while he was on holiday a while ago and a botter was using his account to bot. i opened a ticket with a GM and spoke to him, they gave the usual rubbish of they will look into it, the bot continued for about 3weeks before it was stopped :\

find a friendly priest to mind control them so it knocks off their circuit/kills them.

    alternatively, report them

So first you ask me to explain and then before hearing my reasoning you tell me it's all nonsense and I'm talking out of my ass? Yeah, that makes perfect sense. If you really think there aren't tell tale signs (naked toons, always with res sickness, often too low level to be in that particular zone - especially Vash'jir, always moving RIGHT along every curve in terrain never deviating for one second, always landing on top of every node even the ones already being mined and this isn't even close to a full list of signs), you're naive or you don't want botters to get caught/reported. If I am reporting innocent people how come most of them disappear permanently after being online 24/7 for weeks? Care to explain that? No, of course, the easier explanation is that I'm the crazy one here. And it's "you're" not "your", stop talking out of your nether region.

Nanotech is right about the signs of a botter. I too have found botters with those habits. This one bot would land on a node I was mining and just stare at me for three seconds and then mount up again. This went on for such a long time. It was so creepy. If you report a player who isn't a bot, Blizz will just whisper them and ask what is going on. I knew someone this has happened to. If he isn't botting, he's fine. If he is, he deserves what he gets.
