The one thing I can not wait for in this game, The music.

Guild Wars music was something I will always remember for as long as I live. It was my first "mmo" and so took my virginity(and in the 1000's of hours of my life).
I've recently been enjoying the old Guild Wars sound Tracks Via youtube while playing Swtor and even raiding on wow. My Favorite Area music from Guild wars Prophecies is the shiver peak mountains music. Man that music was awesome, I even used to go there and Alt-tab to read my daily news articles and check my email. I must of Vanquished the area numerous times with people just for the music ;p.

So this is pretty much a post of my enjoyment of the music in the game. It has to be said recently music makes the game for me. Might be something to do with me getting older and it not boiling down to the blinding sun vistas in my game (They look good, but i can't see a damn thing!).

The music from GW just added that sense of "Adventure" and sorta of Hero feeling. Needless to say I hope Guild wars 2 doesn't let me down!

So just to add a Discussion to this; What was your favourite Area music in Guild Wars?
Does anyone have a trusted source for Guild Wars 2 Music info?

Also i'll leave you with this 4 hour + of Guild wars music

tl'dr: I love the Guild Wars music!

EDIT: GG on my fat finger pressing of the Word "wait".

I especially love the music in this game! I've listened to most tracks on YouTube and they are gorgeous

I don't think I used WoW's music for a very long time in the time space I played, but I did enjoy I think it's Shadowsong? Or something similar, and the Icecrown / Stormpeaks stuff.

The music will always play a big part for me in games. Jeremy Soule is a very good composer, so I can't wait to hear the epic soundtracks in Guild Wars 2, we've heard some of them already, and they are all beautiful.

Always loved this on in original Guild Wars, I think it's worth posting. This always gave you such a rush when you played.

Oh dear god, yes! For some reason I don't like the music in WoW, at all.But GW2 I find amazing, like this one track http://www.guildwars2.com/en/media/v...deo-trailer-03 ok, sacrilege, but it reminds me of music that my hero - Nobuo Uematsu(Final Fantasy games etc)would create.

p.s. do you know the name of that track?

Jeremy Soule is amazing, and you're right, he does remind me very much of the music from, particularly, FF7. There's a particular piece of music in the Shrina building section of FF7 that sounds quite reminiscent of a piece of GW2's music I heard.

The music is amazing in GW1 and from what I've heard from GW2 Jeremy Soul has once again made a masterpiece!
The music is immersing and beautiful!

To me music for an MMO is is supposed to be expressing what cannot be seen within the game itself. I felt some of the music in WoW, especially the Goblin theme, just got a little too specific for me. However, the Grizzly Hills music will forever have a spot on my playlist.

I think the GW and GW2 music is incredible. The piano piece from the intro video is a great example of what I'm talking about. It doesn't follow exactly what is happening on our screen, but instead evokes a certain feeling about the events like the Shatterer leaving a wake of distruction, or the King using his sword to destroy the city. I think most of the music from GW2 is going to sound very inspired, look at the amazing world they have to draw from!

Edit: In case you're unfamiliar with any of the songs I mentioned, here is Grizzly Hills, the Goblin theme, and here's the GW2 piano piece.

Why do I run? Why do I slay? Why do I play? ...Carrots? Nay.

I've heard some amazing GW2 music already, but this is just so... dreamy.

And then there's some of the stunning Divinity's Reach music.

Thanks for these, amazing indeed.. really prefer this kind of music to WoW's.

Just as mute-worthy as any other MMO music after a few hours. And I say that as owner of three collector's editions of GW1 campaign (3 soundtrack CDs).

That said, if you're really into Jeremy Soule, just get his stuff at directsong. It will be cheaper then buying the game for it.

Music is good. I'm sure after a week or too it'll be "meh", but who knows, it may last the whole game!

The WOW music is often very "classical" in that it doesnt' have as strong melodies. Whereas all the Soule music has very strong melody lines.

I always find myself humming GW music... but NEVER Warcraft music.

Absolutely. Jeremy Soule is probably my favorite composer when it comes to video game music. I'm really looking forward to turning up the in-game music for once. Normally I just listen to my own playlist of whatever I want, but I won't need to.

Mr. Soule composes some incredible pieces of art but in the end, I'll probably mute it, no matter how great the song is, after a couple of times on repeat it gets tedious, I might put on the skyrim soundtrack in the background as a change tho

The music is nice, but I don't see it as any more or less "mute-worthy" than from any other MMO. Typically I don't mute my game sounds, because it's all part of the experience, but I've yet to hear anything that would prevent me from loading up my own music instead.
I hope you haven't forgotten my role in this little story. I'm the leading man. You know what they say about the leading man? He never dies.

If you give in to your impulses in this world, the price is that it changes your personality in the real world. The player and character are one and the same.

I've been saying this since I found out about GW2... the music is a good chunk of the reason I can't wait for this game.

Once you can get past the simple, yet brilliance, of the composition and look into what they represent... omg... it's even more amazing. This mainly refers to the racial themes and how Jeremy Soule tied the themes together. AH! So fucking brilliant!

Pretty great, yea. Soule's pieces for the Elder Scrolls games are amazing too.

Though I honestly listen to my own stuff in-game while grinding or mute all but sfx due to vent.
