Herald of the Titans BiS Hunter list

As stated in the title my 10 man raid group has decided to level another toon for Herald of the Titans run. A little background on us is that: We all have experience on Algalon for this achievement on other toons and when it was current content and 'hard'. We all love Ulduar and don't mind the weeks being spent on getting the BiS gear for the toons seeming as this is our favorite title by far to show off so we have no problem farming all the gear needed/wanted for BiS.

I'm looking for a BiS list for my BM Hunter for this achievement and would love some input and peoples lists that they have for it. The achievement is "Defeat Algalon the Observer in 10-player mode at level 80 without anyone in the raid wearing any equipment with an item level higher than is available in 10-player Ulduar" So all gear except MH/OH and ranged/relic slot has to be 226 where as MH/OH and ranged/relic can be 232. I would only like to have Ulduar weapons for the lists you provide and it will all be Epic wrath gems in each slot and of course the best wrath enchants available.

I have of course looked up other lists and most are expired links or ones not for hunters. I would greatly appreciate some decent hunters BiS lists for my query. Thanks for your time and patience in setting up the lists.

    EDIT1: Typos

EDIT2:We do not have any hunters that have done this achievement so I cannot get the lists of gear that they used for the ones who are going to say that. :P

AFAIK, Ulduar 10 was 219 with 232 weapons. Gonna assume you're using tier for the tier slots. All stuff here is crit/haste unless otherwise noted, since mastery didn't exist yet and all ArPen was converted.

Well, here's what I came up with some quick Wowhead searching. Starred items are from Ulduar itself:

    Weapons (Ranged, 232 ilvl):
Darkmaw Crossbow/Baelgun's Heavy Crossbow (Anub, ToC 10)
    Felglacier Bolter (PoS 5)
    Giant's Bane (Kologarn, Uld25N)*
Magnetized Projectile Emitter (XT, 10N, hit with red socket)*
    Siren's Cry (Auriya, Uld25N)*
Wide Barreled Flintlock/The Diplomat (Twin Valk, ToC10, hit/crit with yellow socket)
Recommended: All of the ones except the socketed weapons are crit/haste, haste being meh outside of MM (though, to be fair, reaching the 761 plateau might be difficult in Uld gear). I'd go for Siren's Call if you're a troll, Magnetized Projectile Emitter otherwise (though this is a hardmode loot drop only, afaik).

    Polearms/Staves:
Anguish/Fordragon Blades (Anub 10, red socket)
Lotrafen, Spear of the Damned (Vezaxx 25)*
Orca Hunter's Harpoon (HoR 5, hit/crit with blue socket)
    Reclaimed Shadowstrike (Ony 10)
Tortured Earth (Vezax 10 HM, staff, hit/crit double yellow sockets)*
    Twisted Visage (XT 25, staff)*
Recommended: Tortured Earth if you can get it, otherwise Anguish/Fordragon Blades. Lotrafen isn't bad either but lacks a socket.

    Rings:
Band of Lights (Algalon 10, hit/crit with red socket)*
Brann's Sealing Ring (Algalon quest turn-in, blue socket)*
    Cindershard Ring (Ignis 25, hit/crit)*
Godbane Signet (Yogg 25, crit/expertise, bleh)*
Loop of the Agile (Council HM, Steelbreaker last, blue socket)*
Metallic Loop of the Sufferer (Vezax 25)*
Recommended: The 2 Algalon rings, if you can, obviously, but Loop of the Agile is a good alternative too.

    Trinkets:
Blood of the Old God (Yogg25, ap proc)*
Dark Matter (Algalon 10, crit proc)*
Mjolnir Runestone (thorim, crit with haste proc)*
Wrathstone (Kologarn 10 HM, crit with AP on use)*
Recommended: Since none of the trinkets have +agi on them, it depends on what you need. Obviously the first two have the most powerful procs, but the on-use part of Wrathstone might be useful as well.

    Necks:
Broach of the Wailing Night (vendor neck)
Favor of the Dragon Queen (blue socket, H-EoE)
    Nymph Heart Charm (Freya 25N)*
Seed of Budding Carnage (Freya 10M HM, hit/crit, red socket)*
Recommended: Favor is BiS, but Seed of Budding Carnage is pretty good too.

    Feet:
Boots of Living Scale (LW boots, red+blue socket)
Boots of the Renewed Flight (EoE25N)
    Brass-Lined Boots (XT 25N)*
Tempered Mercury Greaves (Mimiron 10 HM, yellow+red socket, hit/crit)*
Recommended: The Mimiron boots are awesome, but if you're hurting for haste LWing boots are prob the best.

    Waist:
Belt of Dragons (LW, red+blue socket)
Belt of the Ardent Marksman (vendor belt, hit/haste)
Belt of the Betrayed (Thorim 25N)
Belt of the Blood Pit (Thorim 10, 219 ilvl)
Recommended: I don't remember what the epic gem values were, but the two sockets might overcome the stat deficiency, otherwise the Thorim belt

    Wrists:
    Frost-bound Chain Bracers (Hodir 25, hit/crit)*
Bracers of the Smothering Inferno (Razorscale 10, ilvl 219, hit/crit)
    Gondria's Spectral Bracer (PoS 5, ilvl 219)
Recommended: The Hodir 25 bracers, there's no other 226 bracers out there (except PVP bracers).

hope this helps. If you want a definitive list based on JUST Ulduar 10, you should be able to parse it out of this list.

    Quite clearly states level 80.

If it was doable at level 85, everyone would have it, cause you could blitz-burn Algalon (We nuked him on 10M, with 5 85s, killing him JUST after 1 Big Bang, single-tank, and ignoring all other mechanics really).

    @eschatological
You can use 226 armor and 232 weapons, cause that is what 10M Heroic provides. And thanks to that, you can use 25M Normal Ulduar gear too. You cannot use gear from ToC 5-man or ICC 5-mans. I recall reading somewhere of a group not getting it, cause someone had a 232 ToC 5-man MH weapon equipped. It has to be exclusively gear from Ulduar and earlier.

Not true. My hunter had a 232 weapon from pit of saron and got it just fine, along with alot of the "normal" gear being from totc5 normal etc... Same goes for my druid. It is not "ulduar exclusively".
(And yes, I got it on two chars, dracodraco and dracoreinda, for those wanting proof I know what I'm talking about).

remember stat scaling is different at 80 so you won't need as much stats to hit certain plateaus

Let me say this first, you "DO NOT" require BiS gear to kill Alagalon. You only have to kill the first 2 bosses to have access to Algalon. You definitely do not need BiS for this. I did it on my mage last week. We definitely were not in BiS and we easily downed Algalon.

The spells at level 80 now are just soooo freaking overtuned compared to what it was during Ulduar 3.1 that there is just no comparison. You get a direct 8% mastery buff as well as soon as you are level 80. I wouldn't bother spending weeks farming BiS gear cause it isn't going to make it any easier. Most of use went for our 4 piece 213/226 which can be bought from the JP Vendors in Dal for Justice Points. Farm the cataclysm level 80 dungeons - faster way to farm justice points. Pick up your 4 piece and you should be good to go.

And the fight isn't even remotely hard compared to what it was during WTLK. I remember wiping even in ICC gear because people were such fail. However, with an avg item level of 209 I found it much easier.

P.S I would recommend that you do not even bother with gemming WTLK epic gems. You ain't going for some progress kill. This fight is really a joke. I've know groups that have 8 manned this and got the achievement. You basically need your group pulling 5K + on average to be successful. And you only go through 2 Big Bangs. Pop Heroism at the start and he falls fast.

This is definitely a challenge that it was once with the increase in skills, etc. The real challenge is to find 8-10 people to actually find the time to gear up and do it.

You don't need the key to open the door anymore?

the restrictions are placed solely on item level, not location (so you can use the icc 5 man (or toc 10 man) weapons) as long as your armor doesn't go above 226 and weapons 232

as for enchants, i doubt any of the cata enchants, no problems there except the ones that will require certain level/ilevel gear

    1. no you don't require the key
    2. it;s always been this way, as long as someone had the key you only ever needed to kill 2 bosses

and i agree, you in no way shape or form need super awesome gear, but it looks good and is helpful to have it

Agree with this. After 4.0 Greatness wasn't far from BiS.

the profile I was planning on using for my hunter when I was going to do this a while ago:

    http://chardev.org/?profile=366697

It's for survival, but the general gear should be the same, just with different reforges.

Don't gem for socket bonuses, it's not worth it.

This is the BiS list. I have an 80 hunter twink and that's the gear I use for Herald.

Cata enchants are fine. The only restriction is Item Level. (Armor 226 - Weapons 232).
Since Cataclysm this achievement is incredibly easy, you could do it with a group using full 226 justice gear, it really isn't a challenge anymore.

cata enchants are not fine because: wait for it

you cannot use them on anything below ilevel 300

linked from a topic from a twink site about herald, granted i would use dark matter over the wrathstone and the meta gem is wrong and perhaps the reforging too but this is pretty much ideal

Are there any tips for a level 80 hunter? Like BiS gear, talents, specs, gemming and reforging?
