Glyph of Sinister Strike as a Conbat Rogue

    Hey there,
I was just wondering about this glyph that provides a 20% chance to gain an additional combo point when using SS.

It happens kind of often that I have 3 CPs and the glyph procs, so I have 5 CPs. Now Revealing Strike most of the time is not active on the target because I was told to use it at 4 CPs. Should I just use the finisher without it then?
Initially I thought now it would be wise to use Revealing Strike BEFORE getting 4 CPs so the situation that I have 5 CPs and Revealing Strike not active should never even arise. But people still keep telling me to only use Revealing Strike at 4 CPs.

So - which of the two is it? I somehow don't get the reason for only using it at 4 CPs when a glyph procc at 3 CPs can max out my CPs. :/

You only use RvS when you have 4CP. If your SS procs at 3CP then you just use a finisher. Using RvS before 4CP means a potential SS proc wasted. So it's normal that your RvS count is lower than your Eviserate count.

Only use it at 4 CP. If the SS glyph proc takes you to 5, just use the finisher without the RS buff.

In regards to using RS earlier: CP have a certain value, especially as combat with Restless Blades. By using RS earlier you still risk wasting a CP from the SS glyph later. For example, you use RS early, but still end up at only 4 CP. What do you do then? Using a 4 CP finisher is bad, using RS again is bad, and using SS and possibly wasting a CP is also bad.

Ultimately the value of that potentially wasted CP (and the energy from having to use more attacks to get to 5 on average) is higher than making sure you get a RS buff on every finisher.

    That actually sounds reasonable.
    Thanks.
