    Unbenching my Paladin as holy

I never thought I would do this but... I'm going to try healing. Just typing that makes my head hurt. I'm a natural at tanking not a innate healer. I don't really grasp the skills half as well as people and it feels like the Holy Paladin toolkit is massive. I abandoned my Paladin when I swapped servers really soon after Cataclysm came out because I had no one left on the server. http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/characte...heralic/simple <-- is my character and i know she has shit for gear but that's what happens when you leave a server with all the gold you can carry.

I have done some reading of the forums and sort of kinda know what I should be doing as a healer. I'll be reforging all that pvp gear to try get some spirit at least but it will be close. Do you think I will be able to heal the heroics or should I slap my dps gear back on and just need everything with int and spirit? Oh and I will be changing the glyphes when I get on.

I'm dreading this. Can anyone help me out with addons?

For "click-to-heal" I recommend VuhDO. Other than that just check the sticky here.

I've tried click healing but with our toolbox growing at the speed it is I actually don't have the clicks I need. I mean I use left, right, middle, thumb1,shift+left, shift+right, shift+middle and shift+thumb1 and I doubt that would be enough. Or would it?

I have no idea how it's going to be in MoP (I' retired atm), but with the Cata model I did fine with 3 mouse buttons in combination with Shift, Ctrl and Alt. Takes some practice, but for 5mans you should be fine (you won't need Holy Radiance in 5mans, for example).

Its basiclly what you feel most comfortable with, either click on the portrait and then cast the spell, mouse over macros or use click to cast.

With how bloated the toolkit is looking I may go clicking and just press my cooldowns

Why not run some dungeons in a spec you're geared for and get some gear with justice/valor?

I totally agree with the above statement. It WILL take you some time to get adjusted and accustomed to your new spec, so running Dungeons and gathering enough JP/VP for Holy gear would be your best option. Personally, I don't use any addons for healing. I mostly click the raid member that needs to be healed and press the respective button [1-6 and Shift 1-6 ]. It's not as bad as some people think, and I've been doing it since TBC, so I am just really used to it. Paladins are in a good place atm, and I do enjoy their healing components atm. If there is anything else you need, feel free to post on here. I'll be around for the next couple of hours !

I am able to setup enough keybinds with just left, right, middle and Mouse 4/5 (use a 5 button mouse) I have other keybinds bound through Vuhdo , such as Shift+1 etc.

Pallys don't actually have that many skills that warrant a keybind, my cooldowns are activated through Shift+1 when not moused over a target.

I advise the use of Vuhdo as well, its amazing as far as raid frames go.
I think you should also get Power Auras if you don't already run it to help you track JoTP and all of your cds.

with most of the click add ons, you can do mouse click, +shift, +alt, +ctrl
that's 16 right there if all you use is left middle right thumb1, plus you can still keybind other stuff - not everything needs to be on a mouse click.

Should be plenty for you, i have 4 thumb buttons and don't use the + ctrl slots since i'm so used to it being my push to talk key.

See now that would work but sadly I retired the old girl when 4.0 was still hip and happening, when I say that I mean it might have been 1 whole week, so I cock all gear really. Either way I will be a burden on the group I am in. Hell if I could I would roll as a shockadin and try get gear as that while I wait for enough spirit to heal for longer than 1.5 minutes without ooming. I mean I'm using HL and I still go oom, well HL and HS and WoG but you get the just, so I know I can't heal unless people enjoy me drinking between pulls... EVERY PULL!

If its your first time healing I really wouldn't start as a Holy Pally but then again you won't be doing anything serious. As far as addons go there's just so many of them its all preferable. Nothing against people that use addons like VuhDO but I tried it before and healing was just extremely easy so i uninstalled it.

Really? I found holy paladin to be the most forgiving, you can basically manage as long as you keep JotP up and then just use single target heals, as all other classes its, at least what I found, a bit more complex things to do for the bare minimum.

Personally I have found Druid to be the easiest once geared. I subbed for a mate on his Druid and rofl-stomped everyone pretty much. The output of those heals coupled with good use of ToL, SW and Tranq mean you do massive amounts.

Then again I do better with classes that rely on HoTs. During TBC I subbed for the same guy on his priest during a Kara run and he to this say still says I was the reason they killed most things. With the renew and shield it was easy.

I hate casting, well hate is a strong word since I love cast dps, so I think being Resto is just natural for me. That and who doesn't want to be the class most prone to overhealing. I mean dammit stop making my rejuvenates points you damned priest...

Well I can only see your strength gear! and if thats the case no you can't heal heroics =P But regardless the 377 pvp healing gear reforged will most definitely be enough for entry level heroics! But maybe buy a tsunami if it's available and other int/spirit gear.

    Int > Spirit > Haste > Mastery > Crit.

As far as add ons go right now for this current expansion Power Aura's for Judgment of the Pure, Power torrent Procs, watching Conviction and other things you may find useful while your healing.

Also in saying that VuhDo is a great add on but kind of complicated. I prefer Grid2 and Clique. Clique works just like Vuhdo in the sense that you can bind spells to your mouse and just over over a nameplate and heal them. Grid is just a nice raid frame that you can customize.

Whenever I heal on my paladin, I just click unitframes and then hit 2-6 to do an appropriate heal (1 being Judgement for easy access)

Reason I don't use HealBot is because my mouse is a 2 button + wheel mouse, and the wheel has like a one-second delay on Healbot click, so in that time I could be too late. So, with shift+alt, I really only have 6 abilities at my disposal, not very good to rely on.

Or you could get a new standard mouse for like 20 bucks

    (more for a gaming mouse)
