Man’s Health Insurance Triples; IRS Fines Him BIG TIME.

    http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/u...s-him-big-time

A man in Indiana posted a fine from the IRS because his family didn’t have health insurance.
Why didn’t he have health insurance? Under Obamacare his premiums rose from $398 per month to $1,400 per month and he couldn't afford it.
Wait until you see how much his fine is! These notices are just now going out and this image is going viral we need to abolish the irs and the idiotic healthcare spending, just a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Considering your Avatar and the site is called http://www.thefederalistpapers.org, I'm going to need another source for validity.

There's really no pertinent information here other than an uninformed grown man complaining like the baby that he is. We don't know what kind of plan or coverage he had before, and we don't know whether or not he could have purchased a plan for less than $1,400 per month. There are subsidies for people that cannot afford to pay their health insurance premiums.

Be a responsible adult. Purchase health insurance for your family.

Seconded. Blogs are not a valid source of credibility.

So he went from paying $4800/year to $2344. A fee he knew was going to be coming if he didnt have insurance. Not really seeing the outrage.

Or not let a government control on what you buy or get to fined for it?

Probably from having to pay $4800/yr to having to pay $16,800/yr, not being able to, yet still having to pay a big time fee.

Really lousy reporting, she literally copy-pasted a facebook post without doing any further research (or even contacting the man in question, it seems) and then adding some inflamatory (and very obviously biased) comments.

Maybe we should just get with the rest of the modern world and adopt some universal health coverage. Get rid of insurance companies and fines all together.

It shows your bias, as everyone knows pretty much every republican southern hates Obamacare, which the webpage you linked proclaims is the reason why the IRS is after him. This is all we have to go on with the issue. For all we know it's an excuse to avoid paying. The devil is in the details.

If it's not the government it's the corporations, and you do not want corporations. The corporations though want the government to do what they say. Excuse me Slimjim, we can't help you because you have a preexisting condition. Company rule ya know.

So who DO you want to control what you buy and to fine for it?

    The Companies?

The government will take that out of his tax refund. If he doesn't have a refund he pays $0 to my understanding. If he has a big enough tax refund to pay the $2300, then he made a lot of money that year or he's overpaying his taxes too much.

That can't be correct. One could easily adjust their withholding to have your refund $0.

The penalty is either 1% of your taxable income, or it is $95 per adult and $47.50 per child with a maximum amount of $285.

So, for example, if a single person’s 2014 taxable income was $22,500, her 1% would be $225, far more than the individual penalty of $95 per adult. Therefore, she would be penalized the $225 because it is the greater of two fees.

Another example: If a single-income household with two adults and three children brings in $27,000, their 1% fee would be $270, but their flat fee would be $285. Their penalty would be $285, as it is the greater of the two options.

If you qualify for an exemption under the ACA, you will not be charged the penalty. You could be exempt if:
•The most affordable coverage costs more than 8% of your household income
•You are uninsured for less than three months of the year
•You are exempt from filing a tax return because your income is too low
•You are Native American or eligible for health services through an Indian Health Services provider
•Your religion objects to the use of insurance
    •You are in prison
•You belong to a health care sharing ministry
•You have been abroad for more than one year
•You qualify for a hardship exemption due to issues like homelessness, bankruptcy, eviction and similar trying circumstances listed here
    .

What in the world? the corporations are MUCH better at managing money than government ever had. Take a look at our debt.

Are people seriously this out of touch with reality?

Which also means that, I guess, his taxable income was $234,400. My already-low consideration for his complaint has been reduced even further.
