    Stardew Valley

So I found this gem of a game over the weekend and had a blast so far playing it! Here's their webpage and the steam page!

    Here's the official trailer:

So far I've been having a blast with the game, it's a better version of Harvest Moon and Rune Factory and it's for PC! Was wondering if anyone here has played it or now that you've seen it if you intend to play now?

I've seen it and it looks good, but I'm holding off with buying until they implement coop for me and my gf

Ditto, we can't wait either. I still can't believe that good co op games (especially ones like this) are so hard to come by.

The only reason I've seen so far that this is single player only is it's only 1 guy who developed the whole game. I mean for him to develop this whole game and it's not even an early access game but a full game is just awesome. Hopefully MP comes down the line sometime.

Personally this game is pretty underwhelming compared to Story of Seasons and A Wonderful Life. The 2 definitive HM games IMO. I don't get how anyone can claim it's "a better version of Harvest Moon", do you mean the shit HM games Natsume has released made in house recently?

I think the biggest thing is it's on PC, and I honestly find the experience that much better on PC but I do agree Story of Seasons is really good and if it were on PC it'd be tough to pick between them. I honestly loved this game from when i started playing it, maybe that'll change but I like these types of games and I'm just happy it's on PC finally.

I like the game, but just found the part of it being "better" odd. My major problems with the game are the fishing is flat out terrible, and it doesn't give you the same feeling of a relationship with the town as the other games I mentioned. It's impressive that it was mostly made by 1 guy, but still has glaring flaws that don't allow me to call it one of the better HM games.

Well good news is the dev for the game said he is very excited to add multiplayer in the near future and adding more content as well. MP in this game will be fun as hell I can't wait but for now I'll be playing this solo.

I downloaded this game last night but unfortunately only have time to play for around an hour but so far this game looks great.

This appears to be one of those games where you start playing in the morning and look outside and find it's suddenly midnight. I look forward to seeing what this game has to offer.

Possible to get better control with a controller than exists now? I want to be able to sit somewhere else than in front of the computer when playing it, like the tv

Looks decent, asking price is reasonable. Gonna pass this along to some people that I know who love RF/HM.

Played it for a few hours so far. Starting out is extremely tedious and repetitive. Watering every single tile every day so stuff doesn't die is probably the worst part. Going to keep playing in hopes that it will get better, and that I last until it does.

Not sure what you'd expect from the start of a Harvest Moon-ish game though at the start :P

So you didn't want a game like this then?

That's pretty much the entire point of them, playing a job in a charming town. Of course things get easier as you get better and get more money, that's how it works. You're supposed to struggle in the beginning.

Considering it, not sure it's my type of game though ... Maybe.
Internet forums are more for circlejerking (patting each other on the back) than actual discussion (exchange and analysis of information and points of view). Took me long enough to realise ...

I played for a couple of hours so far, it's mostly nostalgic Harvest Moon memories that keep me interested. It's pretty good though, I'm impressed with it for what it is. Like all this kind of game, it's very time consuming though, so I'm not sure how far I'll get. I don't have as much gaming time as I'd like these days.

speaking of a harvest moon (the first ones) fan, this game is right up my alley. The pixelgraphics capture the charm really well and it plays just like HM in the olden times (HM, HM:FoMT and HM:BTN) with nice additions (like customizing your farm and more animal types).
I played a shit out of that game already (176h on steam and counting) and plan to play more. And that for some measly 14€? That's money well spent, more than can be said about many recent AAA titles.

Also, this game was made by one! single! guy!
How cool is that? Considering the numbers sold (should be above 500k now), even if steam and his publisher took a generous amount, he is a millionaire now.

Its hard to believe this was made by one guy.

Even with "pixel graphics", its certain better quality than your average "retro pixel" games.

For me though, its the gameplay that matters... and in the few hours I've put into it, it really grabs what I liked best about the Harvest Moon genre, without some of the weirdness some of them had.

Dunno how much time I'll actually spend in this game, but it definitely delivers what its advertising as.

    Ended up trading for it.

    Game on steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/413150/

You've inherited your grandfather's old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home?

User reviews: Overwhelmingly Positive (12,013 reviews)

    Release Date: 26 Feb, 2016

If you (way back when, on super nintendo) played Harvest Moon, this game will ring a bell at almost every corner.
From the farm, the box, to farming and the day cycle, town and the love system. You'll be reminded of that original game.
    See:

    Anyway, show your farms!
Try to keep out spoilers,. I've not been playing very long yet :P
