Help with DPS (boomkin, Have logs)

Hey all. So I rerolled boomkin at the start of the current raid tier and I've been struggling to parse above 50% consistently so I was looking for some advice. Especially on Mistress/harj as my parses are exceptionally low on the AOE fights compared to what I could be pulling but I'm open to any feedback. I've already found out about my opening being off. I've got OI, RM, Symbiote and KJ's for legendaries (i've been farming IFE to the best of my ability.....one day....).

Using your best Harjatan Heroic log:
    - DoT uptime should be way higher (esp with adds existing). Anything below 95% should be considered as bad.
    - You NEVER, EVER, cast Lunar Strike unless it's empowered. You cast Lunar Strike 44 times and Starsurge 26 times. You want the ratio of Lunar Strike:Starsurge to be as close to 1:1 as possible. If it's not 1:1, it should be <1:1, never >1:1.

Pretty much those two things. Also, if it doesn't break your 4P, RM is probably better than KJBW.

As for Heroic btw, it gets REALLY hard to parse well when adds die in seconds. My Mythic parses for example are way better than my Heroic ones simply because the adds actually take awhile (and Balance isn't too good at AoE when adds last < 5 seconds).

If you want logs to compare to, feel free to use mine. They're nothing special but should be enough to suffice
Still wondering why I play this game.
I'm a Rogue and I also made a spreadsheet for the Order Hall that is updated for BfA.

Also keep in mind that your DPS will vary a lot based on the rest of your raid. If everyone is AOE specced it will be very hard for you to get a good log on fights like Harjatan or Mistress. Many classes can do a more burst-y kinda of AOE which makes it tricky for moonkin to get a lot of DPS in on adds. I've recently started going ST build for Harjatan HC since adds don't live longer then 2 seconds.

General stuff you can do is just learn the fights. Know what you can DoT and if you should or not and when to use CD's. Apart from that then what has already been said here about DoT uptime and casting unempowered Lunar Strikes.

Also it's not terribly important, but having a WeakAura for your 4 set so you can "game" it helps a lot. Lets say it has 5 seconds left to go at 5 stacks and you pump 2 Starsurges into the boss leaving you with 0 Astral Power, buff drops and then you need to generate without any extra haste. Where as if you would wait as much as possible, just generating more Astral Power (obviously Starsurge if you're going to cap) but then once the buff drops you can then spend your Astral Power and get the haste buff back ASAP and generate a lot quicker. By all means don't try and wait if it has 5-10 seconds left, just something to look out for if it has 2-5 seconds left and you don't HAVE to Starsurge/Starfall at that point.

My only other advice is try to optimise your gearing a bit more (easier said than done i know). I personally cannot stand Radiant Moonlight and don't find it adds much at all, especially on AoE. I would honestly use the KJ trinket instead of Charm of the Rising Tide, it's a really good stat stick and bumps up your haste/mastery a bit. Try get the tier cloak and then some shoulders with better stats (Harjatan ones are perfect).

I was under the impression that an unempowered Lunar Strike is worth doing against 3 or more targets, as long as you didn't have any empowered Solar Wraths, and at 5+ targets and unempowered Lunar Strike beats out an empowered Solar Wrath (from a dps perspective). The moment adds spawn in, in almost every instance in Tomb, you will have at least 3 targets clustered tightly enough to hit with a Lunar Strike.

Also, I'm not sure how Radiant Moonlight is especially worse on AoE, considering full moon gains a lot more from AoE situations than in single target. Granted, the dps increase on it isn't much better than stat stick legendaries such as Ekowraith, but still.

Yes, lunar strike replaces SW as filler at 3 targets.

Regarding Moggers' comments above about keeping track of 4p, I also like to track my concordance and time my starsurges/full moons with it.

Because it only does full damage to 2 targets and then gets split
