Russia not being in the 100s is astonishing. That is one miserable fucking place.

Would you look at that, all norse countries are at the top 10.
But don't really understand Finland, maybe they're all high from all their licorice or something.

I don't agree with the metrics of this report. Happiness is generally understood in Western philosophy to be Aristotle's concept of eudaimonia which is a deep, lasting, and meaningful satisfaction with life as a whole. I don't know how you measure that besides polling people which would not be accurate. I think you would see the U.S. and Europe being much lower and Latin American and central Asian countries being much higher.

I would have put New Zealand or Australia higher on the list, I have a bunch of customers in both countries and they always seem to me in a chipper mood. That or their accent just makes it hard to sound upset or mad.

Both the people, the food, and the environment is just bad over there.

Are we sure you guys just aren't confusing "cold" with "happy"? Especially Finns.

Thats funny, because here in Brazil there's a common misconception that the nordic countries are depressing places to live, despite all the development, while we like to entitle ourselves as the happiest people in the world.

Damn, i lost the count of how many times people here told me this, when i said i wanted to live in countries like Norway or Iceland...

Finland wins it again. How can all those grumpy people say they're happy?

It might but material well-being above a certain level doesn't seem make people much happier. That is not to say it doesn't make their lives better but that doesn't necessarily clearly translate into happiness. The pillars of eudaimonia stretching back to Aristotle as I mentioned are family, community, vocation, and faith. Happier people tend to have more of those in their lives according to both ancient philosophers and empirical studies done in the modern world.

In the Western world largely because of technology, secularization, declines in long-term romantic relationships, and unprecedented rises in loneliness and feelings of meaninglessness, I don't think any of our countries would come out on top if you took out the questionable material metrics.

    Eh, still fine placed.

Wouldn't call this a 2019 report as the data is from 2018 but that is just me. Heh.

Oh noes France 24 but hey, 5th in health

You will enjoy checking out this table :
    http://worldhappiness.report/assets/.../2-2_Table.png

to see where each country lacks and where they win
    for example,
Iceland would be 1st if they didn't have so much corruption
Finland would be even more king of the ranking if they didn't have "low" generosity
lol at Greece and South Korea ranking so low in Freedom, even Turkey is better. (not really buying this one though)

Cool, maybe I would be happiest in Northern Europe. Except I feel cold at 12 degrees Celsius and hate wearing multipe layers.

  19. #19
So Nordic countries at the top, African countries at the bottom.

Nice...real nice. Why is right wing propaganda like this even published?

Can't access it, it just keeps loading, where did South Korea place?
