So, according to the DH discord, Visions (major) +crucible (minor) and visions (major) +lucid (minor) are our BiS essence combos, depending on which talents you're picking.

Right now Purification Protocol is awesome for DHs in M+; Eye Beam, Meta, Eye Beam (Again!), Fel Barrage, Purification Beam, its AoE is on the level of that of another Eye Beam.

You shouldn't be using Barrage in M+, but to each their own. I personally like barrage more, but trail is simply better. As far as purification, I fucking love that essence

That depends on your group, the affixes, the key level, and the tank's pull style.

I agree you shouldnt be using barrage, DEPENDING ON AFFIXES, like this week is bursting, if i use barrage i will kill everyone, its very situational depending on the affixes for the week, but my group also has a 425 ilvl tank so he can handle the non-sense DPS that is 130k AoE.

Its the only useful spell we have that can Crit AoE apart from one or two Blade Dances.

I mean depending on the affixes, sure, its more AoE damage going out, granted I dont have mine at Rank 3 yet (been taking my time with everything) but this and the purification protocol sound like their top runners. Personally, Fel Barrage is great in huge AoE encounters, like Mythic+ or even raid trash for that matter. How many rando pug raids do i see in Normal BoD that just run through the adds and AoE them all down? So for me, its personal preference, if you run this as your main, which I would because the crit damage is amazing, then the minor for Protocol i would run as well, because it gives more sustain.

Addendum: Wanted to add to this, if you have Tomes available (I have like 300 of them in my bags on a nearly constant basis) after the adds in most raids you can easily just switch over to Trail of Ruin, like for me when I swap over to DB/FB after some add phases in Heroic BoD. Havent had the opportunity to do Mythic cuz of my work schedule so I dont know how it fairs but I would assume its the same

Depending on Haste, but the damage makes up for it in terms of actual speed of killing adds for the sake of the timer.

Right, but you chose your words as if they were irrefutable. They were not. I simply explained that context matters when deciding between trail and felbar.

For instance, mythic mother was a felbar fight because you wanted *heavy* burst aoe on a long timer. But felbar was next to worthless on heroic mother because we didnt need the aoe burst.

So saying trail is "simply better" is simply false.

If you're running felbar, make sure you eyebeam first for the haste buff (from demonic and gaze). The channel duration is the same, but you get more ticks of damage.

Crap...if it wasnt for you i would be playing this all wrong...i have zero expertise in PvE as Demon Hunter.

I did a "test run" on a Mythic 0 freehold.
Ended with 25800 DPS

The first pull i did 160k DPS or something crazy like that. Insta died to the pull

think you quoted the wrong person ? not sure, I never said trail was better but anyway, I was actually thinking what @Togabito stated earlier, about missing 12-14 Dances, thats actually wrong because FelBar only lasts a certain amount of seconds, after that its on a 1 minute CD, you can easily score in a number of Dances in that time, it just wont have Trail.

Yeah me and my tank 2 nights ago pulled half the instance, I went Eye Beam; FelBar;Eye Beam (Incase you have CT, I dont); Protocol. The other people in the group just let me kill everything, didn't die my tank was just prepared for it. Matter of fact the next time im streaming and we happen to do that, ill clip it and show you.

25.8k is great, like as a DH in a Mythic 0, even 18k is okay, it is a mythic 0 after all, like my runs in freehold for the weekly? I gotta pull the logs again i dont know if i have them but on just trash pulls alone? i peaked at 134k and averaged out at 87k just on AoE pulls, regular bosses it was 24.3k. Would be higher if i was in DB/FB but the build for AoE tops the single target damage. Real quick though, with Protocol, I announced to my tank in Discord to get them in postion, stun them, because then I have them in place for when Thor touches the ground with his rainbow laser! Thats how the tank ant keep the threat with the adds, by the time the stun or whatever is on them wears off, you can chaos nova them to stun them again while the tank regains threat, then just clean up any left over adds are still standing

I think when my tank pulled the meters, 15% of my Damage was coming from Protocol while the rest was Eye Beam and Fel Barrage

Essenses offer good customization and we are all nerding out about it this is shaping up to be an awesome patch.

Really you just need....Friendly? I think? or Honored, one of the two. Granted the grind does absolutely suck at the moment. I just happened to stumble across it while viewing the quartermaster and i had the stuff for it so I picked it up, and then told my tank on the last M0 Freehold that I wanted to try it. The shammy in the group was in disbelief at the numbers I was doing
