Blizzard has released a new in-game cinematic for the quest chain unlocked upon reaching renown 19 with the Valdrakken Accord. MAJOR SPOILERS

Edit: Taking a bit of a break but I'm right on the edge of max Valdrakken Renown. I finished all campaigns, too. Nothing fun showed up from doing that but I did get the achievement today. No, I didn't exploit anything. Not that I'm aware of. I just did keys for the black dragons. For like, 40 hours or more. Oof. My played at max level is over 4 days. Don't be like me, folks. To be fair I am not surprised that they put Malfurion on ice, lets be honest since Warcraft 3, Blizzard havent done anything with him. Not sure if they just didn't know what to do with him, but this was probably for the best. Otherwise we'll just have Malfurion constantly wasting space. Sad really cos I loved him in Warcraft 3 he was great but WoW has done little to do him justice since then.

Lets be honest since Warcraft 3, Blizzard havent done anything with him. Not sure if they just didn't know what to do with him, but this was probably for the best.

The problem is that he's incredibly powerful with his mastery/bond with Azeroth's nature, and you don't really want that for a faction leader.

I can't be the only one who doesn't understand what the point of the seed is. Is it supposed to grow into a new world tree to replace Teldrassil? Why plant it in the Emerald Dream then? How does that solve the ongoing issue of the entire night elf race no longer having a home? Are they all just supposed to move into the Emerald Dream whenever it sprouts into a tree, after however long that process will take?

This somehow feels even more vague than the usual lore antics, and that's saying something

Since WC3 they basically wrote themselves into a corner with Malfurion. His power level is through the roof, even some end-of-expansion bosses pale in his power that's how in tune with nature on Azeroth he is. Do anything people will cry "It's too/not powerful enough.". Best to get him out of the way until there's something for him to do that makes sense.

I'm assuming it's not ready to plant yet, assuming it's like real life seeds...seeds need to mature before planting. Maybe they had to rush it out so it wouldn't fall into the wrong hands and or because they were leaving the shadowlands and didn't intend to come back?

Best idea was to have him die to Saurfang in BfA.

Next best idea is to just delete him and Tyrande soon after.

Saurfang was nowhere near powerful enough to kill Malfurion

Like people have pointed out - if he was written as powerful in WoW as he was in Warcraft 3 and the books - he could've easily dealt with Sylvanas; naturally they cannot do that

As much as I like Malfurion after reflecting on it I would rather see him come back as a neutral force so he can actually be as powerful as he is supposed to be

I thought that maybe I just forgot what it was supposed to do, but I think you're right. I don't think they ever really said anything except some general statement about "renewal", which honestly, could mean a number of things.

They choose the weirdest/dumbest things to be cagey about.

EDIT: Though maybe there's some context to this in the quest text that triggers the cut scene (I friggen hope).

Saurfang literally launched an Axe into his back.
The fact that he got sad about it is the only thing that kept Malfurion alive.

I play this game a lot, but anyone's that's 19 or even higher right now, what the fuck... Play how you want but man, I reckon these are the same players that stop playing and complain there's nothing to do after a week or two.

You have dailies, world quests, some events but from what I heard they're all camping and doing the siege scenario nonstop for days.
10 is also nothing, absolutely nothing. I'm at 11 and I got it passively from just doing loremaster. Haven't done a single daily or grind.

No you absolutely had to have done something beyond that. I have done every single quest in the game (obviously got loremaster too) and I have done some dailies incl. the black dragonflight stuff and I am at 10.

But anyways: The most and easiest rep you will ever get is of course from questing. After that it's an endless grind of turn ins and scenarios (this week), so just getting to that point in this time requires you to farm nonstop, so renown 19 is definitely a whole fucking lot and not where 99.9% of the players are.
