Announce PSN hack on Front Page

As many of you have already heard I'm sure, the Playstation network was hacked. It has been down for awhile, and it recently came out that personal information was compromised as well. While I'm aware this is a WoW site, and the PSN is not WoW related, I feel this is big enough news that it warrants being mentioned on the front page. Mostly because if people used the same account info for PSN and WoW, their account could be compromised.
The info that was compromised was:
    Name
    Address (city, state, zip)
    Country
    Email address
    Birthdate
PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login and handle/PSN online ID.
    the secret question.

    And possibly credit card info.

No, they are sure the secret question and answer got stolen. They aren't sure about credit card number and expiration dates.

Is this a suggestion/feedback? Yes it is. It's in the correct forum. No, I don't think the info about this should be limited to people who have offtopic shown on the frontpage.

I wasn't aware you spoke for everyone.

There are countless ways to get that sort of news through the proper channels. MMO-Champion isn't about that, and it's not responsible for informing the lazy about things that aren't related to WoW.

I'm sure what that person you quoted was trying to say was many people own PS3's and might not know about his situation. I agree that this should be posted on the main page for the same reason for what the OP pointed out, that some people use the same info for many sources and this could compromise their WoW accounts.

This really isn't the kind of stuff we'd put on the front page. Anyone who is or could be affected by this are aware of it by now.

I'm sorry you feel that way. And I disagree that everyone who could be affected knows. Yea, a lot of people know the network was down, knowing all their info was compromised is not the same thing.
This can most certainly affect wow players. People who have not touched their PS3 in months may have their account info tied to it still. It would not be the first time news related to things other than WoW made the mainpage. This is huge for gaming in general. I think not mentioning such a huge risk to a LOT of players accounts is pretty short sighted.

MMO Champ isn't strictly WoW related. That's why it's in the Off-Topic Forums.

Lots of things people need to know and they don't, sorry but this is a wow/blizzard/mmo site and I do not see it getting on front page, maybe something could be said on mmo report or perhaps boub(or sunshine) can prove me wrong.

Having your WoW account possibly being comprimised is WoW related and no matter how much you would like WoW to be the center of the world, it isnt. The fact that it ties to WoW and its HUGE player base, a player base that overlaps with PS owners, is enough to warrant attention.

So lets say a credit card company gets hacked, and some people play wow, would information on that be on front page?

no it isnt needed, common sense not to use same account name/password in multiple places...

Secondly, doing that would be a precedent that would make all the tree-hugging hippies here think that they are allowed to demand the front page to cover news like this one. "OMG, EARTHQUAKE IN ***! MUST WARN EVERYONE! COME ON, THERE ARE WOW PLAYERS IN ***, HAVE A HEART" and alike.

Regardless of how stubborn you and those who share your point of view are, this isn't going to happen.
First of all, your problem is that you don't understand that mmo-champion has had non WoW related news up before.

Secondly, earthquakes do not put WORLD OF WARCRAFT accounts at risk. This is relevant to gaming, and world of warcraft.

Regardless of how self centered you are, this does affect others, and SUGGESTING it is not a bad thing to do in the feedback and SUGGESTIONS forum.
