    Exclamation Support TukUI!

Hey all, I went to TukUI's site to check if any new revisions were out and found that Blizzard is wanting them to stop developing/releasing new versions for this UI on the web. If you use this UI addon or don't mind taking some time and read about this current event please feel free. Your thoughts/support greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm very lost as to why Blizzard would want to take down a UI.

You should probably read the email he recieved again. By Blizzards "rules" no add-on developer is allowed to offer "premium" services for a fee. I thing it was Carbonite that was the main reason for this rule. Now Erik isn't selling extras, but things like this can be easily misinterpreted.

That Blizzard employee has clearly never been on the internet before, nor does he possess any kind of reading comprehension. To my knowledge, Erik has never charged anyone for Tukui, not even a premium version.

The only thing offered as far as premium goes is your membership to the "website". Paying or donating for a premium membership to the community does not grant you some form of Premium Tukui.

I'm sure this will get settled when a Blizzard employee who has successfully completed the first grade sees this.

The premium membership is only for the Tukui community website and forums, and has no effect on the UI or it's in-game performance.

All I know is that TukUI has always been free of charge to use, It's totally open to its code and everything

Don't even know what TukUI is but it kinda scares me a little to know that blizzard employs illiterate people who try to enforce rules.

You have my support, my warlock uses the UI =/, Don't know blizzard's problem LOL

Lol Tukui is completely free from the Ui down to the coding of it. Premium is just a tag on the website. Apparently the Blizz employee hasn't seen the thousands of posts of Tukui edits.

    1) Add-ons must be free of charge.

All add-ons must be distributed free of charge. Developers may not create "premium" versions of add-ons with additional for-pay features, charge money to download an add-on, charge for services related to the add-on, or otherwise require some form of monetary compensation to download or access an add-on.

A premium membership to a forum community based around this addon seems right up that alley.

are blizzard on a mission to secretly make as many people quit the game as they can or something? really

"It is extremely important to us that these policies are strictly adhered to for the overall benefit of the community."

how it making an addon to change the ui / make things more simple not benefitting the community TukUI is kinda helping people not screwing them over in anyway.

ok you could look at the UI as giving people the edge over someone using the crap defult UI i guess but thats about it.

and for the above poster he isnt charging its optinal you dont have to pay for any service you dont even need to download the ui from his site if you dont want to plenty of mirros about.

Is right there in the email from blizz. A premium membership to a forum community based around this addon seems right up that alley.
The premium account has nothing to do with being able to use the add-on, it's just a premium account on the site that helps support the tukui community. the UI itself and everything included in the making of the UI are completely 100% free.

Under that description, Curse should get the banhammer too. That's a "related service" for every addon available there.

A community website and forum are a service related to that add on. And charging for them is against blizzard policy plain and simple. Go read the policy before disagreeing with it.

    Sounds like a slight misunderstanding.

Hopefully it gets fixed so everyone can get on with their lives.

Hogwash. None of what Blizzard is saying or doing would hold up in a court of law.

Maybe they should spent some time getting the bots out of their game instead.
