5.4 World Boss (Ordos) requires Legendary Cloak to reach

What awful server is this? There's a new Nalak group on my server every 2 hours or so, all week long. Mondays and Tuesdays are obviously the high-end days for Nalak.

There's always Open Raid and cross-server stuff for this, though. My server is not the pinnacle of PvP progression and world boss groups can be hard to find outside of particular times, but there is pretty much always something going on on some server to cross realm.

Wow, I feel bad for you.

Every time Galleon spawns on my server, a group forms. They always kill Galleon, go to Sha, kill Oondasta, and go to Nalak. Like clockwork.

Your argument is so bad that I don't even want to reply. They are adding a Legendary world boss as a REWARD for the time spent. Something exclusive for those people who have been building their character since September.

And technically, they didn't just randomly "add this boss after the legendary came out" because the Legendary Cloak isn't available. This world boss and the legendary come out in the same patch. You realize this, right?

This boss seems pointless to me.

First of all, you need the legendary cloak. Ok, fine. But if the next part of the quest chain that upgrades your 600 ilevel cape to the legendary takes as long as the last couple of parts did, you're looking at a couple of months before you even get the thing. And that's assuming you're doing everything in your power to get it as quickly as possible. If it's stupid ass RNG based like the last two parts, it could take even longer. How long do you think it'll be after this patch drops before there are even enough people that even HAVE the legendary cloak to form a raid together to kill it? Consider how much gear you would've acquired in all that time from regular raiding.

With the current implementation, it's extremely, extremely unlikely that by the time you will be able to even fight this boss that you will have any reason to. Basically it'll be the people who only raid in LFR who try to kill this boss, but with zero motivation or incentive for real raiders to kill this boss and thus carry those LFR people, they'll never get him down in the first place.

I just don't see the point.

This boss should be accessible to everyone.
One of his abilities should be a powerful knockback, but the legendary cloak can withstand it, whereas everyone without one is blown out of the area and instantly killed (like Spine of Deathwing).
There, now everyone can access it, but if you don't have the cloak, you're going to die. A lot.

This is one of the funniest and at the very same time saddest threads here on mmoc. Much of what I am gonna say has been or probably has been said in the 30+ preceding pages, yet for my own edification i must respond. Firstly let me do a bit of troll feeding and say to glorious; if you are too lazy and uncommitted to have done the quest chain on at least one toon then you are not deserving of being able to fight the boss, period end of story. The hardest part of the quest chain is the time involved and even that is so simple that it can be done through lfr. The only part that is slightly engaging is the solo fight against/with Wrathion. And even that fight can be won by anyone in all lfr gear. In fact i think a skilled player in all 463 gear could probably do it. Now for the people who are saying that this boss is a no go for alts. What are you talking about. I have one toon that will have the cloak this week after i do the fight and 2 others that are both collecting runestones. One with 10 the other 7 and i have a fourth toon that is 2 weeks into 90 that has already gotten to honored with wrathion and collected the sigils of wisdom and power. Fairly sure that i could complete the quest by the time 5.4 goes live on that toon too. Yes i may put a bit more time into the game than someone else so why shouldn't i be rewarded for the effort i put in. A better question is why should someone who doesn't put in the required time reap the same reward as someone who does. What is this the World of Socialism. If someone on your job worked half as much as you would you be ok with them getting paid the same as you. Of course you would not be. This is no different, and i in fact am glad to see that blizz is beginning to see that the catering to casual ideal they have been running with is not winning them more subs. In fact it is losing them subs. People dont feel invested anymore to their toons. Everything is so easily obtainable that there is no need to be dedicated to the game and try harder. Those that put in the effort feel slighted since anybody can be just as epic with no effort. "cause when everybody is super, then nobody will be". This is a great step for the game to get back to the roots of what made it a above average mmo. Bring back the days of People prancing around in -what's the name of that forgotten dwarf stronghold- their hard earned epic gears while the rest of the people stood around sending whispers saying " oh man nice gear, what boss that dropped from". Hard work should be rewarded and those that choose for whatever reason to not do the work should not be given the same benefit of those that do. This is how the world works, whether in real life or in some digital universe. Its what makes games fun and interesting. So kudos to blizzard, "Good show old boy good show old boy".

Lol what? 553+ item level is higher than any other gear piece you currently can have, except the cloak.

So, why would people who instantly die, and can't really be of use to get the boss down deserve loot? And the boss is accessible to everyone, since the cloak is.



Honestly people need to get over themselves. People with the cloak are not special. Even if you only raid lfr there's no excuse you don't have it right now other than super bad luck. 5.4 is likely 2 months away, if you don't have the cloak by then it's because you're lazy, not because you're unlucky.

Considering you can easily get the cloak without ever going into a normal / heroic raid I don't see what the big deal is. My alt priest is close to completing it and I rarely do anything but LFR on that character.

All this really does is prevent recent alts from accessing it but who cares. Your 6th alt isn't going to be crippled because you can't access one of the 10 world bosses that will exist in 5.4

I think some of us are arguing about different things, and it's confusing the issue. So let's try this ...

It's 5.0 again. You see the legendary questline. Why did you choose to do the quest?

1. I did the quest to get the legendary. Totally fair.
2. I did the quest because I like quests. Fine.
3. I did the quest because it is there, or some other reason. Great.

What you did NOT do was start the quest because it was required to kill a world boss. You didn't know about that. Would you have started the quest had you known? For some people the answer is yes. This is the issue I'm peeved about.

I'm willing to put in the work if I want the reward. I don't feel I'm entitled to see a boss without it. What I AM entitled to is knowing, when the quest comes out, what the rewards will be.

Blizzard changed the reward mid-stream for doing the quest. THAT is the issue to me. Not entitlement. Not the gating of content. All I want is to know when the quest comes out what the reward will be. Not told 9 months later.

Why do you need any gear at all if you don't raid? Why do you even play this game if you don't raid? Do you even know how ridiculous you sound? Players of all types want a sense of progression even if they can't do big group content. That's the reason they play this game.

And somehow ONE boss (ffs, just one freaking boss) means you don't have that anymore?

And here you go with the entitlement again. There is nothing entitled about having a chance to fight the boss for some loot. It's not like we sit there doing nothing and expect the gear mailed to us. Also there is nothing challenging / hard about gating a boss that requires an item obtained through a lot of RNG luck and significant grind.

This is the best example of feeling entitled. You got everything you could ever want as a casual player or non-raider in this expansion but instead of just accepting you miss out on one boss you moan and whine that you need a "chance" (which you actually have, like everyone else) for "character progression". If that is not feeling entitled then I don't know what is.

this is a great idea.. even those who dont have the legendary wont be missing out as much. 522 ilvl is normal and 528 is TF i think so.. LFr groups wont be missing out on much gear.. slightly higher ilvl then their used to but.. who cares.

There is a fair amount of time that is required to get it though. Say somebody just came back to WoW now they would need amazing luck and almost 3 months to have a shot. Catch some bad RNG and you wouldn't be able to do it prior to the next expansion.

And then what? You miss one world boss, oh no the world ends.
If someone comes back to WoW now after a year or whatever they will miss out on a lot of things but this one world boss is a problem somehow?

It's so ridiculous that we are even discussing this.
