It is evident that with WoD they are trying to bring Warcraft back to its roots, which is a good thing.

Aerial units have been in Warcraft since the second RTS. Your argument is wrong.

I get their argument of not wanting the world to feel small, but I think having portals everywhere and instant dungeon teleports are much worse for that. Hopping on your flying mount and soaring through the sky feels so much more epic than than taking portals everywhere or sitting in a dungeon queue or taking a flight path and alt+tabbing until it's done.

Blizzard could buy me off by applying the flying mount speed to ground mounts.

Otherwise I want my 10s of thousands of gold back, especially for Cloud Serpent training.

Blizzard response: If we spend time in making flying mounts walk we will have to cut time somewhere else such as a full raid tier or entire 4 new zones.

Or the most confusing of all.. "By restricting where you will be able to go in the game by locking you to the ground, we are somehow expanding the exploration of the world by keeping you from reaching locations you otherwise would be able to with a flying mount."

Are all of the store mounts actually able to be used as ground mounts?

Cataclysm in general would like to have a word with him but I bet losing several million subscriptions was part of their big plan, same goes for MoP and the great "DO YOUR DAILYS DAILY AND IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO GET REP" thing. Both worked out quite well, they managed to slim down the subscriber base, whittle away "the weak" and allowed the servers to be more stable and faster because there's fewer players around, right?!

No, they will not keep it, don't get your delusional hopes up, they will not keep people from using hundreds of flying mounts, that took years to collect. Not to mention the whole thing is a step backwards, only gankers and griefers are happy.

You sir, are a hero to intelligent debate on these forums. I personally thank you. *Highfive*

Apparently condemning a fascist ideology is the same as being fascist. And who the fuck are you to say I can't be fascist against fascist ideologies?

Blizzard has mentioned this a few times, actually. Most of the info came out of Blizzcon, but it was stated later to reiterate that all the new zones, after the initial Draneor zones from launch, will all be Thunder/Timeless style, meaning no flight. So technically, yes, it's correct that WoD will not have flight, but it's a bit misleading because after the quest you do for flight at first patch, the initial zones will indeed have flight allowed.

I play on a PVP server as well, and I have to somewhat agree on that. However, Personally i would want flying mounts back at some point IN the xpac - got tons of rare mounts, that i have spend MANY hours on getting, including Onyxian Drake, Phosphorescent Stone Drake, Blue Proto-Drake and many more.

But - I hope that no flying will encourage people to do some more openworld pvp - would be great if we had something like in the old days between Tarrens Mill and South Shore

These are the type of people that quit for no good reason half way through the first month of the expansion and give the illusion that the expansion was some how unsuccessful.
It your mind operates in this way, then no matter what happens you wouldn't have been happy with the expansion.

Anyone who plays the game seriously will realize how you travel around the world is the least important thing in the game. If they want to remove flying altogether, then we will adjust. As long as there is Mythic Raiding I will be playing.

Enjoy ESO, then Wildstarr, then EQ Next...

It doesn't really matter if there's flight or not, if there's no flight, Blizzard will obviously build the content around that fact. In WoD, it seems like they approach flight as a way to trivialise last patch's content.

I've already cancelled my sub. The game has gotten boring and I was already annoyed about no flying on the Timeless Isle. No flying in the start of WoD is bad enough, and now they say they are thinking about a world without flying. Great. I'll pass on that world.

Was that also the reason you passed on vanilla wow?

Doesn't really do anything for the game by not letting people fly. Pretty lame if I'm honest.

Some people did, some didn't. When I level in MoP I do my cookiecutter path of all the quests I know so I can blaze through it as fast as humanly possible. I've pretty much never been to Krasarang and on the mountain in Kun'lai because I know from past experience how much of a festering turd it is to be restricted to the ground in mountainous regions. When I can fly and quest I try out all kinds of different paths, because questing on flying mounts is fun. Since I can skip all the elements of useless and involuntary combat my immersion is much improved, because I can focus on the quests. When I'm questing using ground mounts it pretty much only involves a rich vocabulary of curse words and longing for my flying mount.

Ground travel is an enormous inconvenience for some. For me it has the exact opposite effect of what Blizzard wants to accomplish with the flying ban. I don't get excited for exploration, I don't get more immersed in the questlines, the world doesn't feel bigger or scarier or more epic for me, it accomplishes exactly the opposite. For me flying opens up the world to be an enjoyable way to spend my time, ground travel kills that completely for me. I pretty much just want to afk in cities and queue for whatever and historically that is what has caused me to unsub in the past. This is why I'm tons less excited for WoD than I was initially.
