i have no idea how the actual numbers look, but i imagine this could very well still be a much bigger problem in some asian countries than it is in usa/eu :/

Even so, banning pornography will not even begin to solve the issues women face in China; It's so heavily ingrained, it's almost impossible to change it from a singular aspect (Like pornography).

Massage parlors, barbers, bars, all have women whom are treated like slaves for men; And then the whole culture regarding going out with your boss and "Enjoying" the local women over drinks is something too.

I can't speak of porn itself or the treatment of female talent in China... having never... er... Sampled or researched it, but banning it will do nothing; Like... Nothing at all.

It's more of they're going to shut down the websites who have porn, not deleting the porn cause that would be impossible due to there being multiple copies of something.

And we all know how well shutting down sites work...for every mainstream porn site shutting down there will be 50 fighting to take it's place.

Beijing: China announced to launch a renewed campaign against the spread of pornography on the Internet and asked websites and portals to clean up their links to avoid shutdown.

The campaign 'Cleaning the Web 2014' will conduct thorough checkups on websites, search engines and mobile application stores, Internet TV USB sticks, and set-top boxes, the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications said in a circular.

The campaign will last until November, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

All online texts, pictures, videos and advertisements with pornographic content will be deleted, according to the circular.

Websites, web channels and columns will be shut down or have their administrative license revoked if they are found to produce or spread pornographic information, it said.

Websites, telecom operators and web portals were asked to conduct a self-examination instantly and clean up information and links.

The campaign is in response to the persistent spread of pornography online despite multiple previous campaigns.
