It's community managers and QA staff having a little fun with beta testers on a TEST REALM. Not developers that are acutally working on stuff.

It'd be fun if they'd ever do something like this on the live servers. I remember it happening sometimes when i was new to the game. Random gm's would show up and spawn creatures it was really fun. Anyway, I wish i would have been there for this.

I would, if it was just a one off. But every single thread like this where something "unnecessary but fun" is done by the Blizzard team, there is always that one guy who has to go and assume they're slackers or clearly not using their resources appropriately. It's tiring and annoying, if you don't like what's happening why waste the energy to comment?
