Well
Yeah, they are fantasy archetypes obviously. However I always find Mage/Wizard/Sorcerer archetype the same, even Warriors have better variety in origin of their 'powers'. I mean, sometimes they are just skilled fighters and sometimes they are empowered by some deity or other explanation for superman strength.
I think variety is important when it comes to releasing new Heroes. We already have 4 Heroes that fit into Mage/Wizard/Sorcerer archetype before seeing any truly traditional priest. Sure I can understand other archetypes are lacking characters to personify them, but why oversaturate roster with too much of the same. I mean, people were complaining for a reason after releasing 5 Warcraft Assassins in a row (
Who were also mostly melee). It kills the hype, despite Valeera being actually a fun Hero to play, people just weren't that excited when she was released unless they had a boner for Blood Elves, play Rogues or are melee Assassin players.
I am not denying importance of some characters, but for the variety sake I rather see Mephisto casting lightning spells than a Diablo II Sorceress.
