Why is this?
Why is this?
Its just little bonus stuff that has no real impact. I think the better thing is why do you have a problem with it? Its optional
Because there are paying customers who like it.
It gives you something to do?
And i kinda like it? It is free loot. A way for you to work on the story when you are not there. It also gives you change to extra stuff.
Personally i think they should make it more like the garrison one. so gear to level your "minions". Mats for proffesions, special quests items etc etc.
Hell dare i to say it. I think they worse part of these tables are that they are not in a garrison type building.
If it where up to me, i would like a garrison in you main faction hubs. one that keeps going after 1 expansion.
Spoiler alert: Some people like it.
Why? Easy content with tangible rewards that requires a negligible amount of player time to complete. It is, for all intents and purposes, free gold/resources. The real question is why YOU don't like it.

Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.
Think you may be misinformed OP.
Your statement probably applies to the WoD style mission system, which was a large, important, bloated thing.
Ever since it's just been "a little bonus" that you send out, with minimal setup. Most people are fine with it, that ive seen talk about it.
Pretty much zero development time porting version from one expansion to another, and vast majority of playerbase use it, whether they like it or not.
Not sure why people like you don't like it, it's free gold. And with mobile app you don't even have to log in, can send missions at work, while in the bathroom, on a train, or whenever. Zero effort, only benefits, no downside...Yeah, I guess they should remove it, Whalescream doesn't like it, so.
If the future is female...get ready for apocalypse.
I bet the only reason people ''like'' it is because it gives free stuff for doing almost nothing. I don't see what possible gameplay it offers to be able to actually like it.
The table is being forced into every expansion because they help out a lot with the MAU metrics. They make a special app for it, gives out easy loot while your taking a shit and it gives Blizzard soemthing extra to show off to their investors of how much people are playing the game.
It's a facebook game in WoW. Press buttons, wait, collect the reward. Does not fit into an mmorpg but that is just my opinion... however, the mission table has never made me not play the game.
Short answer: Probably because you're wrong, and people do like it.
Longer answer: I see nothing wrong with it now. BFA's version was neither as chunky as WoD's nor as intrusive as Legion's. As long as SL's version of whatever the mission table is either follows or iterates further upon the example that BFA set, it'll get an a-okay from me, and from what I've seen/heard, that seems to be the case.
I can understand why people might take issue with the original incarnation of the Garrison mission table. What I'm curious about is whether or not you can see (or are choosing to ignore) how that system has developed beyond WoD, to the point where calling it the "Garrison" mission table anymore is slightly insincere. It's a much lighter, easy to use, more likable system now than it was then.

Problem with the subsystem is that this being a multiplayer game and therefore competitive (even between PvE guilds), if you spend time doing something mundane that gives competitive advantages even if small then it can make the game worse for people that value their time and they don't like the minigame.
It reminds me that even world first guilds complained that they had to do a lot of 5man mythics to compete with other players but in this case it's worse because I doubt the minigame is liked by more people than those that like 5mans and it's something that gives a small but clear competitive advantage.
I liked them before they gutted them to appease the people who irrationally didn't like them tbh.
