I know Gamestop hasn't been TOO terribly accurate in the past, but hey a guy can dream right!?

I guess you will have to dream on...
Most of the sites just put out a place holder date on it, and I guess that is the case of Gamestop also. But one can always hope that It's being released at that date, even though it's most unlikely. :3
(I can't tell if its the 3rd of January, or the 1st of march.)
Early January is a strange release date for a game. If you release it just a few weeks earlier you get the christmas boom, and its out long enough for early 2012 new year sales.
3rd of march sounds more likely from a business/sales point of view i guess, but unless they have something big hidden (or require significantly more beta testing and open up more content) i doubt we will have to wait that long.
I went through a list of some stores that I would usually check - they ALL have different dates (except Amazon which has no date at all), so it's almost certainly just placeholders. I'm in the UK, hence a lot of UK companies, but it just goes to show how completely unreliable release dates on shops are right now.
Some stores with dates:
Amazon - No date
Game (UK) - States "2011"
Gameplay (UK) - 25 November 2011
HMV (UK) - 1st Jan 2012
BestBuy (USA) - 2nd Jan 2012
Gamestop (USA) - 3rd Jan 2012
Wal-mart (USA) - 7th Jan 2012
Play.com - 24th January 2012
Gamespier (UK) - 27th January 2012
Zavvi.com - 3rd Feburary 2012
Correct date is probably "none of the above".
It's just a placeholder date.
