If you can find a group after 3 years of waiting that is.
The new anima step had me like "Woo, now I have reason to unlock CT".
Then I remembered I'm still on the first step.
(For the record, I stopped playing during 3.1, and only hit 50 2-3 weeks before HW release, hence why CT and several other level 50 raids/dungeons weren't unlocked).
Its not that bad -as long as you can afford or craft/know someone who can craft the 16 HQ items. The rest is not hard but just a grind.
I've been doing it one and off from the dailies and buying the unidentifieds with tomestones since launch with a bunch of weekly breaks and im at 15 to go out of 80, with a server that has a hunt link shell you could get it down in a week easy, but unless you speak german my server is kind of lacking in this regard but if you can find one its not that bad, just takes time unless you want to do more than your once a day bonus roullettes for it. I just spend like 2 hours after the 4pm reset and that gets you a few a day alone and it all adds up.
Its funny though, my friends kept saying i was wasting my time and should just go for the lore weapons and now they are all in a mad dash for that 230 ilvl
That's been the main block for a fair amount of people...except those lucky sods that are on servers that saw the price drop after the specialist requirement was removed.
Now that I'm approaching the point of making good progress on the tokens (spent more time on other things and classes, for a while I was only getting one token like every 5 days or so), I'm starting to really focusing on saving up as I'll need around 5.4 million to complete the crafting item part (the prices for the mats have been all over the place, especially for HQ mats, so getting it crafted only to have it fail could end up more expensive on my server)...at 2.1 million so far. I figure I'll be close to what I need when I'm close to finishing the tokens.
Though I do think it's silly it hasn't seen any adjustments at all. They said they designed he overall process based the difficulty of getting a 210 weapon from Gordias Savage, so it would make sense to see more tweaks than we've seen once that particular situation no longer applied.
But it's pretty much the exact same, outside of needing more than one person to craft the items. Unfortunate choice by them, in my opinion.
Speaking of the anima weapons ... I'm suppose to collect crystals from doing FATEs right? (I don't have a zeta to trade in.)
How rare are those stupid crystals?
Internet forums are more for circlejerking (patting each other on the back) than actual discussion (exchange and analysis of information and points of view). Took me long enough to realise ...
Well sometimes RNG will decide it wants to fuck you until you start screaming and the other time it will do it the proper way which is take you out for a nice meal, maybe a coffee after then take you home and leave you with maybe 3 easily dropped crystals and a goodnight kiss.

It "seems" to be slightly higher than the ARR version from my personal experience. I've gotten 6/18 in 2 hours but I could just have been really lucky. The nice part is that you can do it on characters that you need to level up so you can get some exp along the way.
I personally just started and I'm on the second step. Its an insanely long grind but I had some tokens saved up before hand. Saving your Esoterics/Poetics helps a lot in this part.
Also ... 3 of each crystal? I'm having trouble understanding what the quest is asking of me. :x

I'm looking for this:
But the really important stuff, you can't even see.

Yup, that's a major issue I have. I hate how it looks. I hate that I can't see my HoT durations. I hate that I can't resize it the way I want to. I hate the extra buffs and debuffs I don't need to see are all over the place. I really hate it.

Basically. It's usable, but horribly frustrating and clunky.

Yup, that's another annoying thing. Sometimes I just want that area to be blank, but I don't have that option unless I drop every quest in my quest log.

Story time!
When my guild at the time was raiding Highmaul, we were working on Mythic Imperator. Our Resto Druid was consistently going OOM, but she didn't know why. I also didn't know why. I had no way of telling why she was going OOM - were people taking too much damage? Was she spamming too much Regrowth? Was she not taking advantage of Clearcasting procs? What was going on?
But thanks to having a meter available, and the ability to export parses into Warcraft Logs, I was able to look at multiple pulls on the boss and pinpoint the fact that she was using Wildgrowth on CD when it wasn't actually needed (and Wildgrowth is a huge mana hog). Had I not been able to actually break down her spell use and see what she was using and when, and actually see how her mana was dropping over the course of the fight, we wouldn't have been able to progress because people were dying because she kept running OOM.
Did this turn the situation toxic? No. Because the situation was already toxic because no one could figure out why people were dying to unavoidable damage when all the healers were at such high HPS (hint: it was because one of the healers was blowing her load in the first 2 minutes of the fight and had no mana to continue from there on). It would have turned worse if we didn't pinpoint the problem.
So I brought it to the healing lead and let him take care of it. Problem solved, no negativity, and I didn't need to spend an extra 200 wipes on Mar'gok because the Resto Druid couldn't keep her mitts off the Wildgrowth button.
In FFXIV I just have to sit there, scratching my head, and going, "um, well, maybe I should have healed more..." Because there's no way to tell what the hell is going on because we can't actually see what other people are doing without targeting them and staring (which isn't wise when you're trying to down a raid encounter).
Actually you do.
I have a macro for that:
/hud aufgabenliste (German client, should be "task list" or some thing like that in english). Goto macros -> syntax to find it.
This macro toggles quests/dungeon objectives. I usually have it all hidden to get more free space on my screen.
What I personally hate is the giant gold font that appears for a few seconds when you accept a quest / send a retainer etc. SOOOO unnecessary and annoying.
