SQ is lovely, though amping is definitely recommended. They just gobble up power.
It depends on the weight distribution though. Even heavy headphones can be comfortable if the head wrap and ear pieces are wide and well padded. And at least on my HD 280's the thing that starts giving the most discomfort is the pressure they put on your ears (most likely intended to keep the outside noise down).

Need to give those HE-400s a look though. Have hifiman's earbuds already and I'm quite fond of the brand.

I think they are pretty comfy (HE-400) though after a while (hours and hours) they do get a bit tiring. I have had no problems with the earpads at all, even while I am wearing my glasses instead of contacts.

Heh. I'll admit I wear the DT 770 Pro 80 ohm, and they're quite heavy I've noticed, at least compared to the Presonus HD7 I've got next to me. But they're quite comfortable and padded to hell.

I think Sennheiser is the way to go if you want something on the lighter side. E.g. HD650's weigh around ~260 grams while HE-400 is 440 grams.

Replaced my (still functional) G5 with a Zowie AM (nongloss). I'm already impressed by the sensorquality improvement i have. But it'll take some time to adjust from 125g to 88gr.

@looz, nope not really. And not really feeling like booting another os to run a single benchmark at the moment :P

Also, MSI Z87i Gaming AC + Fractal Node 304 on the way. Going itx.
Will have to go DAC, cool thing the Z87i has a dedicated USB powersource especially for DAC's.

They are. But they have a very honest sound. It's more reference than one should have in headphones, your ears will tire after a few hours. By the sound I mean, not comfort.

Tired or bored? Ears should never tire of reference sound :P and this is coming from a total EQ junkie.

Did it run better? Worse? Did it look different?

Judging from the score, it runs worse.

This is true for speakers, not headphones; most recordings are made with studio monitors, and due to something with the frequencies that travel at different speed, truly reference headphones will be tiring.

I have 880 Dt, I would not say that it is heavy, but it is not light either. Very comfortable though, built very well.

It ran worse with OpenGL, looked identical. But doesn't the windows version of it have the option of OpenGL as well?

    I think there is.

Have you figured out a reason behind it? O.o

Maybe it is testing other parts of the card more or something I don't know? =S

Probably not very optimized for OpenGL. I can't really say much about the difference between OpenGL and its competition like DirectX, but at least OpenGL can be a massive PITA to write for when starting out in particular.

I was thinking about colors inside a case today. Has anyone ever tried to wrap colored 550cord (aka Paracord), or some other form of thick string/yarn, around and around their drab black liquid cooling hoses? I think it might look nice if you could get it tight enough.

Hmm I should run it on Windows to see if the performance is any better.

Probably a matter of shitty optimisation like Drunkenvalley mentioned.

Pictures a bit later, but essentially, I just bought an ASUS MX239 monitor. It uses a grade A+ AH-IPS monitor! Absolutely none of the Korean offerings use this grade monitor, and I've not seen any yet using the new AH-IPS standard. I know this isn't a 1440p display, but this is mostly - for no - a test run of IPS for me. Managed to get Micro Center to drop the price all the way down to $217 before tax from $250! Not bad at all!

Just used this to look at how the sRGB setting on this monitor works out.. http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gamma_calibration.php

It was right about spot on!
