MSI 770-C45 got fried-Can other components be damaged?

I'll make myself as short as I can: I overlocked my 1100T to 4.0GHz on 1.5V and ran a stability test. 5 minutes later when I came back to the computer it was turned off and it refused to boot at all (no beeps or anything) I tried lots of things like reseting the BIOs and all that stuff and decided to take it to some kind of "electronics shop" where they tried to discover what had been destroyed and when they did it, the motherboard caught on fire (I will upload a pic of where it was burnt) but now to the subject: Can other components be damaged? Becuase when i spoke to the guy at the store he said something like "It's not so likely that any other component is damaged because most motherboards have "defensive functions" and they protect other components when damaged.
    Is that really true?

Could be. Only way to tell is to test them. If it was just a motherboard failure, then its unlikely. If the cause of the failure was the PSU, then you could potentially fry everything.
