Well, technically I was talking about how the cover for the Touhou games tells me whether the music in it is 8 bit or not. I probably should have made that clearer.

Yeah, I mean the games from the first one 'til Mystic Square all have a similar art design for the cover, and they all have 8 bit soundtracks, whereas all the ones afterwards have the silhouette of someone over the slightly abstract background, and have a more full feel to the music, often incorporating strings and other orchestral instruments, along with frequent piano and occasional guitar.
