    Yea i got the redpower <-> factorization problem, too. I reset all factoryzation ID numbers around 10700 and ...

    Oh boy, vanilla minecraft is going towards easier automation step by step. Maybe in a thousand years we'll have logistic pipes in vanilla :P

    Couple of thread notes.

    • I will no longer be doing updates for 1.4.x. Only 1.5.x mods will now be updated here.
    • Config Files for 1.5.x will be released when a good portion of the mods on the list have been updated to 1.5.x.
    • Optional Mods section has been removed. It's enough work tracking all the mods that I use, tracking ones that I don't is just extra work I don't need.
    • I will still be accepting list suggestions but things will only be added if I decide to use them myself.
    • Some mods currently listed may yet be removed. Other mods may be added. I'm going to give it some time to see where things are going for this cycle.
    • New Column! Shows if a mod has a wiki, tutorial or spotlight video that is helpful in learning the mod. This column is still incomplete for some mods and will be filled in in the coming days.

    That's it for now. Updates again tomorrow afternoon/evening sometime. Post any questions or comments here.

The release is only there to really help mod devs. It's listed for those who want to get a head start. I personally recommend waiting for an official release version which shouldn't be too far off now.

    Just to let you know Zan's Minimap is now updated, I can't post the link to it, the forum won't let me for some stupid reasons, you have to search for MamiyaOtaru's mod on minecraftforum.net

    I just discovered that map mod, its way better than Rei's Minimap, especially the mob icons on the map, nice way to hunt, if you want skeletons, you can hunt them and you know if there's a creeper nearby, not just a tiny red dot on the map anymore like Rei's Minimap does.

    Ugh.... another "core" mod needed..... Whats makes his even more annoying is you have to wait for another stupid adfly and then wait again for creeperhost....

    About the 1.4 mod overview, I'd like to say my mod in that classification u guys made.
    Diamond would be Buildcraft, Thermal expansion, Logistic pipes, Railcraft, Iron chests (u didn't even mention the one of the most powerful mods in the wrold ), Gregtech(Makes IC2 20x more interesting and cool and has a lot of integration with other mods and a HUGe amount of end game stuff) and Forestry (with a BIG minus for sucky apatite generation and bringing us to our knees to make a Redpower tunnel bore machine to dig at level 65-60 to get the stupid apatite.)

    Gold would be Steve's carts, Thaumcraft (for being tooo linear, I mean ok once u make all ur research u don't really have anything to do...), Redpower (it's cool, havent seen many bugs in it and it's redstone circuitry is IRREPLACABLE, but the big minus is Eloraam's stubborn and stupid not caring about anyone or anything), Soul shards (it's AWESOME, only downside being that without enchanting plus it's QUITE irritating to get ur shards, but i guess that's the point of endless gunpowder, leather, bones, arrows etc.)

    Iron would be: Computercraft, iChun's stuff and Factorization. CC is good, just a complete lack of tutorials for the most basic of sythax in the language itself is a bit... demotivating. Also if turtles were completely removed, IT might be awesome. Come on, how unrealistic is a self propelled block that just moves in 6 directions without any sort of explanation of how it can go upward and stand in mid air? O.o
    iChun's work is .... meh. Portal gun is overpowered and game breaking, gravitiy gun has it's uses but too limited and just meh.
    Factorization - just like u said, lights and barrels.

    I don't have coal mods, really.

    The 2 I dispise in my guts are Direwolf's lackey Xycrap and the game-breaking overpowered and rediculously unrealistic pile of dog shit: Equivalent Exchange. Thank GOD it doesn't release anything. I hope it never does, tbh.


    Also applied energistics has the HUGE flaw of the storage system. Completely doesn't fit the "material" nature of minecraft. Otherwise it'd make it in diamond for sure for compatibility, visuals,crafting and logistics.

    Steve's Carts is definetly one of my favourites, although I don't find myself using it very often. One day I may really mess with it and make a bunch of carts. Now I only really make 1 or 2 kinds. Thaumcraft is great, but its a huge item sink. When half of your time is spent stacking things in a table and clicking a button hoping to get luck I think something is wrong

    Yeah, they should think of a way of giving tutorials with Computercraft. Right now you either have to know LUA or find a wiki. I picked the language up fairly quickly, but for someone new to programming all together it's a useless mod.

    Been playing with EE2 lately and loving it. It's a bit broken for most survival map settings, but you dont really have to use it if you dont want to. New version is supposed to be more balanced. We'll see I guess.

    It was one of our favorites for it's creativity. Minecraft is rather limited and anything that can expand upon it's simplicities gets praise from me.

    Yea applied energistics is really innovative and creative.... but if there was someone to remove the data storage of items... would be so much better.
    EE balanced... I doubt it, as the whole idea of EE is to be able to make clay out of iron for example. But u find clay in water and iron in caves. It's impossible to baalnce such a thing because different items are not the same. U can't make an enderpearl with 4 iron, because killing an enderman is not equal to finding a bit of iron.

    I agree in the traditional sense. Going out to kill and Enderman is more work than mining a bit of Iron along your travels. Then again, with other mods, both activities are trivialized. I can make an enderman farm with Soul Shards and some XBXL quicksand and never have to kill one again. I could also set up a quarry and never need to mine anything again.

    If you really think about it, most mods will make one thing or another "over powered". EE2 was fun in ways because of what it let you do, not the ways it made things easier. Sure, if you're going to use EE2 to create all the materials you'll ever need then you'll get bored and will have missed the point of the mod. In my opinion, using mods to take the dull grind out of minecraft makes building things more fun. Without them, I would have stopped playing a long, long time ago.

    Yeah, the Forge Compatibility is still on the todo list. I'm actually looking for alternatives to Optifine but most aren't Forge Compatible either and require multiple entries in to the JAR to get the same functionality. I guess just wait a little longer. Major updates always take a long time.

    Yup, need the biggies to update (Buildcraft, IC2, etc) then everything should hopefully speed up =)
