It wasn't proof, though, and only one person said it and you both immediately gave up. The lesson here is to never give up, who knows what would've happened if you just argued it out.

Or if, instead of giving up altogether, only one of you did, and the other one continued sowing the seeds of discord. Showing us all your cards was pretty much the worse move you could make at that time.
