Layout of the new raid in 5.2

While the new models are looking awesome and everything seems to be fine I want to discuss the layout of the raid itself.
If you haven't seen it by now, here are some datamined maps: http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/...-Build-16408#_

It's looking like it will be one big tunnel in one direction without any optional parts or branching pathways.
The watery-area seems like it may be kind of cool but somehow I don't like how the whole thing seems to be shaped. That's about the only thing I don't like about T14. Everything's great but it's like one big hallway. That's what set Ulduar, Naxx and ICC apart from the other dungeons.

    What do you think?

I dont mind a linear instance if the content difficulty actually scales up propperly.

Atleast wait until the freaking raid is out, Jesus. By the way, how does this look linear? http://media.mmo-champion.com/images...hunderKing.jpg

Get in first, and then come back here, thanks.

That's the map of the Isle, not the actually raid.

Noticed how it has a ''caverns complex'' at the semi start of the picture, now see this picture. http://media.mmo-champion.com/images...rkingraid3.jpg It could very well be where the saurok boss is. And the shape of that island doesnt look at all how it looks on the game.

Yeah because there can only be one cavern in one Isle? Please. And so what if the shape doesn't look like it in game? Did Northern look the same in Wrath as it did in WC3?

Yea, the times of true, non-linear raids, like Serpentshrine Cavern, where you could choose to kill a boss or wipe. Or Black Temple, you could skip some trash before Supremus!

And btw, Firelands. A raid where you could select your path, select which bosses you kill first, or if you are killing all anyway.

I don't think any of that is true.
First of all it says "Throne of Thunder" on every map of the raid and second you can see the entrance portal here:

Look more like the temple in the upper right is the beginning area of the raid.

Blizzard said already that this raid is nonlinear, its split into 4 linear wings. And map above is not isle, its raid. This is isle http://media.mmo-champion.com/images...leofGiants.jpg

It'd better not be linear, or it'll fuck guilds over by taking away the choices of what boss to kill depending on that night's turnout/setup.

    Wrong.

Isle of Giants is where the Devilsaur Raid Boss is found.

Isle of Thunder is the "Daily Island", as illustrated by the patch notes:

After the Isle of the Thunder King has been conquered, the gate guardian of the Thunder King's citadel will appear: Nalak, the Storm Lord. Players will frequently have the opportunity to test their mettle against him.

Isle of the Thunder King is not part of the raid. It is the daily island, and once you conquer it, Nalak roams. The fucking patch notes also say it.

New Daily Quest Hub: The Isle of the Thunder King

    Now stop this madness.

No. That isle is Isle of Giants north of Kun-Lai. The isle the raid and dailies is on is Isle of the Thunder King.

I don't really mind linear that much, in the end everything is pretty linear. But some freedom is nice so that you can choose between a few bosses to do in different order.

Hallways... They can seem very boring unless the aesthetics change somewhat over the course of that hallway.

And it'll be very much linear, the Throne of Thunder maps connect well together going from first to last.

I personally don't really mind the linear look of the maps, I just hope that the bosses in there will be good.
But I do however hope that the aestetics of the dungeon changes so that it's not one long hallway looking the same all the way.
And I suppose that a linear dungeon might be nice for progression purposes for some atleast.
I also have to say that I think that for example AQ 40 is a very nice dungeon to run through, in terms of aestatics etc. I think that a linear dungeon can work (since AQ 40 is fairly linear, minus a few rooms).
