I would much rather take my chances with that system than this current one. Where the game decides everything.
I joined mop late and have been doing lfr for about 4 weeks now and 3 of those week i've got loot, from the same boss the same god damn bracers, the first one was enough for me and the second and third could have gone to someone else who actually needed them, instead game has offered me 3 of them and nothing else. At least with the old system i could have said no thanks, not everyone wants to lfr around just to bully and piss others off. People acting like jackasses are a minority thankfully, so maybe the MS/OS issue was the real reason to move to this new system, but this definately doesn't solve that. It actually doesn't solve any of the issues in the cata LFR, except that you can't whine about someone who pressed need just to piss you off.
Yes bosses in normal and hc drop same items week after week and that's rng, but at least they get to assign who gets what with 3rd party dkp or roll on what's needed by specific player. Lfr is indeed a nice way to see the game for people who don't have the time to do normal or hc, anymore. I did my share of hc raiding for 2-3 years straight, on top level and that meant in school or unemployed, play 16 hours a day 7 days a week. Just got tired of that since i actually wanted to do that same thing in 2 days. Since the world pretty much has around propably 50 guilds that can do the entire current content in a time frame i would prefer. Which would be heroic current content cleared in 2 days, the rest struggle hc or even normal and raid 4-5 days a week to get all cleared or progress, it just wasn't worth it to waste the time on 3-5 extra days. I would gladly be doing 40-man heroic modes if one realm could hold 40 players who are able to clear with a pace and not stand around in every fire patch "ooh so shiny i must see if it kills me so we take hours to take one boss down". Cause for me raiding is still a group effort, 10-man is just heroic dungeon. 25 man is the best the game offers, but it's still not the same effort as to coordinate 40 people to do something, which would be the real challenge, not the boss or the mechanics, the coordination. Not just one raid leader yelling "don't stand in the fire".
It's not about being elitist, it's about getting things done, cause they aren't that hard to begin with. The easier the game gets the more people seem to need to be handheld and guided or just blame it on slacking cause it's so easy. Well guess what it's easy cause people want it to be easy, otherwise we would still be doing 40-man naxx right now and wondering how to get past 4 horse man, cause we don't have enough attuned people.
