    Fallout 3 or New Vegas

Im about to be done with Bastion and im thinking about my next game ill play. I have over 70 games on steam but the two that catch my mind when i think about it are the two in the title. So ill make a poll check back in a bit when ive beat Bastion to see the results. If you say why ask us? I have a simple answer, ive been out of work for over a year with a broken back and no end in sight. and im bored and this might be a little fun for me.

Fallout 3: I have the game of the year edition
Fallout: New Vegas i have all the dlc steam sales at the moment.

Mods please dont close this thread lol.....im really bored and just looking for lulz

For me, I vastly preferred 3 to New Vegas. I could never really get into New Vegas like I did with 3, which I ended up clocking well over 400 hrs total time into when all was said and done. In the end it's ultimately up to you, but you know where I stand. =P

Fallout 3 is great, but if it has to be one or the other New Vegas is the better of the two. Fallout 3's DLC is better though.

I hate to say it, Fallout 3. It has a better story and is a bit more "directed."

When the Complete NV pops out (it's coming soon, so DLCs are all done) and is on Steam for $5 I'll buy it again and play through it to see if the DLC gives a more full experience.

I'd say fallout 3 at the moment. Finished the game 3 times so far. I was really looking forward to NV but didn't get into it for some reason, planning to try again soon though.

I never really got into 3. I got out of the vault, walked over to an abandoned school (I think) then after killing a few things I turned off the game and never played it again. NV seemed to start faster and I was able to get into it. I'm still more of an Elder Scrolls fan than Fallout though.

Everone I'v talked to says Fallout 3 is a lot better than New vegas

If you're doing NV consider the Project Nevada mod. It does take an external program (well I think you can get around it) but it's not that hard to set up. It can be set up in ways to break the game, but in other ways it's incredibly useful and opens up the game for more options. You can turn on or off specific mods or parts within mods so if you see one thing inside a suite that you don't want, don't worry: it can be changed likely in game.

A lot of the stuff in Project Nevada is so basic in other shooters or of the nature that you read it and think "Wow, I can't believe the game doesn't have that!"

I personally use almost everything from Project Nevada in my game, except for the Cyberware module. I wasn't too big into the implant idea when I was playing the game-proper, and adding a whole gear up via implants idea didn't appeal to me. That and I raise the level cap and disable slower leveling.

Also consider a World of Pain:

Adds around 100+ extra locations, some are tiny like gas stations, some are big underground sewers and whatnot. It does have dialogue for all the extra quests it adds, but I don't think it's voiced. The big downside for this one and me is that 1) it can be very distracting in a new game and 2) It's a lot of potential extra loot. That can really offset a game as much as knocking over The Silver Rush can. ^_^

I love how the vote is split 50/50.

I adore both games, but if I had to pick one, I'd probably go New Vegas. It smooths out a lot of the things that made 3 a bit wonky. It does introduce some new glitches, but yeah.

Fallout 3 with all DLC, THEN New Vegas. I much preferred F3 to NV. Also, level the hell out of your Small Guns and Sneak skills ASAP, get a Deathclaw Gauntlet and sneak attack your way through the game. REALLY challenging and fun.

I might check out mods after im done with the core game and dlc....ive never used a mod in Fallout or Elder Scrolls and id like to keep the game as pure as i can till im done with what i want to do before mods. But ill deff keep this in mind for when i do get done.

I liked 3 better, but that may be because I played it first. Both of the games have the exact same gameplay, but new vegas has a few extra things (imo, mostly boring extras like cooking or making bullets) I liked 3 more because vegas has a lot of sub factions in the game that you earn a seperate reputation for which sounds fun, but again imo it just got annoying because how a specific subgroups reputation can effect other stuff where as in fallout 3 you can run around and screw over people without worrying about the reprecutions (I wanted Felicia Day as my companion in new vegas, but no brotherhood of steel hates me . I couldnt find the gun that shoots railroad spikes in new vegas either, but that is prolly a me problem. Hope you enjoy and that your back gets some sort of relief.

Personally, it's not even a contest. 3, to me, was easily an 11/10, and NV was an 8/10 or 7/10. I played 3 religiously (even replayed it at Very Hard, with the pip-boy light on and radio on 24/7 so the enemies would see / hear me coming a mile away), it blew me away. NV I just didn't like. The story wasn't that interesting, although I did like that you could choose which faction you side with. Aside from that, NV was a resounding "eh" for me.

And, on a side note, while all Bethesda games are glitchy, I found it amusing that within the first 10 minutes, I encountered a floating NPC at least 50 yards in the air shooting me in NV.

    Seriously, go with 3.

Oh you can play with mods just fine, but once you've actually played New Vegas with a SPRINT button or a Grenade hotkey, like is standard in just about every game, you'll never go back.
