Considering how Kyouko dies I don't see how she's selfish at all.

Not only that, but her own father murdered her entire family over the wish she made. If she wasn't effected by that at all, then something would seriously be wrong with her.

Precisely, the lesson she learned from that experience is that being selfish is the best path in life because if you try to help others, it'll come back and bite you in the ass.
