Startrek Effect

Alright... So I noticed something about the new startrek video game cover.



So... first thing. That looks a lot like earth is under attack and they are using mass effect 3 like weapons (geth sniper rifle and assault rifle)
I made a joke to one of my friends about it and I suddenly noticed something in the upper right hand corner of the image.

Did they have the same artists doing this stuff?

Ahaha have you seen the movies trailer? It is even more obvious. (for the sake of clarification, i liked the trailer and want to see the movie)

The rifle Kirk is using looks a lot like a modified version(Or well in this case its a downgraded low tech version) of the TR-116 rifle that have been used in both Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: First Contact (which looks a lot like a Mass Effect looking weapon)
and as both the show and the movie predates the games by a few years i would guess its the ME games that used star trek weapons as inspiration just google Star Trek rifles there will be a lot of familiar looking ones.

And i find the space ship to look a lot more like Slave 1 from star wars but upside down.

It's just a similar art style and subject matter.
