Nope, Kara was acceptable, if not slightly easier than that. That, along with it being a 10-man, was why a lot of people were able to do it. The transition to T5 was something a lot of people simply weren't prepared or even good enough for.

Except "Final Fantasy 2" had very, very VERY little to do with the original beyond the classes and gameplay, so it could have very well been given a completely different name and started a less untruthfully-named series.

No, clearly the Final Fantasy series is named primarily for name-recognition before anything else.
